I made this in like 3 minutes it symbolizes everything i know about england/britain (other than its shape because it's really complicated)
I got a better idea:
n. ireland should be represented by the saltire [editline]5th December 2013[/editline] just don't make it look wonky like the union jack is now there's no point considering st. andrews saltire would be gone
How come this hasn't been suggested?
Just take the union flag and slap Trogdor the Burninator on it. It has Dragons and green for Wales.
These look like Chinese bootleg Union Jacks
Who the bloody fuck designed some of these?

Diet Union Jack
and New Zealand, Anguilla, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Fiji, Tuvalu, Niue, Cook Islands and British Indian Ocean Territory
Don't forget that some Canadian provinces still use the red ensign
I think Wales needs some more representation: :v:
Yeah, I could work with that. This one I'm less enthusiastic about. There is no saving this travesty.
Don't worry we'll just declare independence before that happens.
There is no saving this travesty.
All hail John Yates!
there we go

Oh look they finally have an excuse to change it to this:
There is no saving this travesty.
Reminds me of the old Republic of China flag
Don't forget that some Canadian provinces still use the red ensign
Newfoundland uses a stylized variant of the Union Jack would they have to change too?
I'll tell you what. Our flag is just going to look silly with a different Union Jack in the corner.

Everyone saying that Wales needs more representation needs to recognise that the diagonal red stripes are the Welsh part. It has exactly as much representation as England and Scotland. I like this one: I just want a scandiwegian flag
I thought the diagonal stripes represent Ireland, what with half of them being removed when the ROI became independent?
im really digging this one
I hope this style comes back into mainstream media from the renaissance era. I like the complicated descriptive stuff over the minimalist style.
I thought the diagonal stripes represent Ireland, what with half of them being removed when the ROI became independent?
So they do. I saw St Patrick and thought of St David.
Honestly, I'm kind of surprised that the British Nationalists aren't having a field-day with this.

All of these flags except the white/green one are obviously made by people who have no clue what vexillology is. Seriously if anyone prints anything but that one it will cost a shit-load. Even the black one would be expensive as hell because of all that black.

It's only really an issue for shops and stuff, not for the government.

The white/red/green one isn't even that pretty, it looks like Santa designed it. And I doubt they look at every pattern and go "Yes, but how much does it cost?". If that was so important we'd all have white flags with shapes on them.

If that was so important we'd all have white flags with shapes on them.
The principles of flag-making are more to be averse to too many complex shapes, too many colors, keep it symbolic and cost effective. That's why when you see flags with say, more than 4 or 5 colors, most of the time they use simplistic bands or stripes. It's also the fact that, flag making, does infact add up as you add more to it. You have to replace every old flag in a country with a new one. It's preferable that it doesn't become a costly procedure. Plus it's not about looking pretty, It's more about keeping your flag symbolic to your nation: The Union Jack is symbolic because it represents union of the kingdoms, The American flag is symbolic because it represents 50 states and 13 british colonies, etc Oh also, some colors are more expensive to print.
