The Wii U is a good console with good games too
If it didn't have such retarded joystick placement on the controllers it would be perfect
I've been thinking about getting a 3DS for Link Between Worlds, just wish my DSi could play it
"NINTENDO IS DYING GUYS, NINTENDO SHOULD STOP MAKING CONSOLES AND JUST BE THIRD PARTY" I love how people's general opinions of Nintendo is that but here they are still churning out money, lmao.
If it didn't have such retarded joystick placement on the controllers it would be perfect
Concerning that, what's the better layout; left-stick top and right-stick bottom (Xbox style), or both sticks bottom (Playstation style)?
I'm surprised I never heard about this China ban on consoles before...
It's been known about for years actually and is one of the reasons why China actually has such a strong internet cafe scene in the first place.
Shit gets real when chinese buy their own made stuff
[t]http://afrotechmods.com/groovy/review/megason/megason2.jpg[/t] this shit never gets old though there's a severe lack of care (from the government itself) for international copyright law within China, so a shitton of people make crappy knock-offs of things to get a quick buck before running something else into the ground, if not just avoiding trouble by rebranding the same crap under a new company name. For instance, there's tons of identical microtransaction-fishing apps published to the apple and android mobile stores constantly. One I saw recently was a NES Mario first level clone thing, made with ripped pokemon sprites, where you have to buy characters for "$099" and new lives for $010". It's definitely dollars, not badly noted cents, and somehow it managed to pass apple's 'rigorous' quality standards that tend to wipe out small developers, in multiple formats, over and over as old copies got reported
its not a severe lack of care, when you have a VERY large population that can't buy shit legally, they'll look for the grey market, its simple as that. companies want to sell things at exorbitant prices, and then wonder(or more likely pretend to) why piracy is rampant. chinese government is going to rightfully continue to not give much of a shit about piracy, because they're fully aware there is nothing they can do.
Concerning that, what's the better layout; left-stick top and right-stick bottom (Xbox style), or both sticks bottom (Playstation style)?
The Gamecube controller was by-far their most robust design. Dunno why they've not tried to emulate its layout for future systems. The 3DS comes close but it lacks a right stick and only has the 2 bumpers.
That's crazy. Considering that Sony produce everything from TV's, phones, computers and consoles you'd think they'd be rolling in the riches.
That's crazy. Considering that Sony produce everything from TV's, phones, computers and consoles you'd think they'd be rolling in the riches.
sony has been in danger of going bankrupt ever since the PS3(where they nearly did), its not a surprise really.
I came across a post on some forum of some guy throwing the biggest shitfest of a tantrum about the 3ds and how it's going to flop in a month or two and will destroy nintendo like the dreamcast did to sega the thread was from oct 2011
That's been going on since the GameCube era, and probably even earlier when compare to PS1 and Genesis
This article is bullshit. You can go look up Nintendo's stock and it hasn't even closed to doubled in the past two or three months. October 1st it was at almost 14.25 and it's only at 18.25 right now. They may have had a slight surge from China lifting the ban but doubled? Shit is straight sensationalist.

Also, didn't the Gamecube have 3 shoulder buttons; left trigger, right trigger, Z-targeting? A strange number by modern controller standards, since you usually have two shoulders and two triggers on the modern layout. Also, concerning the face buttons... Yeah, those seemed kinda strange too; but did they work well for the time? Also the next DS style of Nintendo handheld should probably have the twin-sticks.
I'm actually curious as to how Smash 4 will affect the sales. It's either going to be a moderate success or it will be fucking crazy console selling madness
How the hell does Nintendo keep doing this?
The WiiU attach rate for games is something like 5 games right now, and the games that constantly are in the top 10 sold games on nintendo consoles are nintendo games. When nintendo only needs to sell 1 game to make back the money lost, and they sell 5, it's not suprising that they keep making money, while sony and microsoft are losing money, despite selling more consoles.
Probably the latter, since it's been 6 years since Brawl, and folks are probably ravenous for more Smash Bros.

Holy crap. Nintendo has $81 Billion more than Sony does in the bank. I mean wtf.
Nintendo was started in 1896, truly the gods smiled upon them knowing the video game industry would rise in the ashes of the industrial revolution
it's crazy to think that nintendo has been more than just a company in the video game industry in years past. it's even crazier once you realize they have been able to stay around for that long pre-videogames Nintendo understands business [editline]9th January 2014[/editline]
The Gamecube controller was by-far their most robust design. It had the right ideas...but was just awkward to hold for me at least

Some games utilized it better than others, though I only remember metroid letting me strafe, and SSB letting me perform quick smash attacks

I wish Nintendo would get around to finally releasing Gamecube virtual console for the Wii U. Or the option to buy Wii games digitally. I want to be able to play Xenoblade or Metroid Prime trilogy without having to pay an arm and a leg Edit: actually can you just make the virtual console less shitty please.
I wanted to make some pithy, tin-foil-hat joke that drew a connection between all those coins in the Mario games and BitCoin that would explain the increase in stock value, but I'm not smart enough to express my vague paranoia as complete thoughts. So I'll just post the intent of the post and leave myself at your mercy.
I would love a Wii U, but I don't think I'd play it.. the only time my PS3 gets played is for exclusives.

Good to hear that they hopefully won't struggle as much. Even though I'm not the biggest Nintendo fan, competition is always good. Speaking of Nintendo. My sister and her boyfriend thought that I pretty much always have all the modern tech I could want. So they bought me a NES for christmas. Fully restored controllers and everything. It's my first nintendo console. :v:
I got a Wii U pretty early on because my sister really wanted to play the new Super Mario Bros. games, and I haven't exactly played a whole lot with it myself other than Pikmin 3, which was a fantastic experience on it's own. I know Nintendo's going to make it worth it in the longrun though.
