dang is it really that bad?
The game is locked at 30 fps, is optimized terribly, there's a really bad memory leak, it crashes constantly, and some people are getting error messages that seem to suggest that it's a build from 2013. And there were confirmed instances of WB employees going on NeoGAF and calling people complaining about the port "entitled babies."
Oooh this got ugly real quick...
I am surprised that this got recalled. That means they're gonna do something about it and that's a fuck ton more than you can say about companies like Ubisoft.
Thank you, Steam refunds. See how much developers are going to care now that their cash is sinking down the drain.
Im wondering how steam refunds is effecting this decision. Now that publishers cant push a broken game like this and get away with it anymore.
And there were confirmed instances of WB employees going on NeoGAF and calling people complaining about the port "entitled babies."
Wasn't that a witch hunt based on a coincidence?
If steam wasn't already as big as it is, I would say that would be an awful decision.
Most of Steam's "competition" already offered refunds. Valve was the last horse to leave the gate on that.
Playing with a 680 Gtx and its more than acceptable. I'm rather disappointed this happened though, like how could you fuck this up realistically?

"Refunds are bad for developers!!" Only if your bad and or make games less then 2 hours long.
Batman runs less like a PC port and more like the PS4 version on shitty emulation software
if refunds actually make devs work to make their games work on PC then i will officially declare 2015 the best year in video games for a while
They never did this for Simcity.
They never did this for Simcity.
And look where that studio ended up. Shut down.
Glad they recognize their mistake. Hopefully they'll learn a bit from CDPR and deliver a *proper* PC game. [editline]25th June 2015[/editline] Still... I was super hyped for this game, and this clusterfuck pretty much ruined my expectations. I won't be getting it until they release the GOTY version.
if refunds actually make devs work to make their games work on PC then i will officially declare 2015 the best year in video games for a while
this is an amazing thought too, because 2014 was a pathetic year
i wonder why so many companies still don't want to take the smart route and just make a good game
My guess is everyone is just looking to cut corners. Some guys in suits were like, "Well, we could save a few bucks and really, who's going to notice?" The positive thing to take away from this is hoping that Steam Refunds really made a difference here. It still seems like WB is forcing this statement through their teeth (And still trying to insist that alot of people are enjoying the PC version when we all know it's Bullshit); but maybe there was a significant number of refunds that made them shit their pants. What I'm worried about are publishers choosing to skip PC ports in the future because we actually have a voice and means of recourse now. But I'd rather publishers do that then release shit ports.
dang is it really that bad?
A friend of mine disabled motion blur and the entire game deleted itself.
Its such a shame the pc launch has been such a damn mess, the game itself is awesome
When the game re-releases on PC, I really hope they do some form of compensation. I'd love to get it, but my wallet is still hurting from the Summer Sale, so hopefully they'll put it up for a discounted price for a brief time.
Playing with a 680 Gtx and its more than acceptable. I'm rather disappointed this happened though, like how could you fuck this up realistically?
Outsourcing the porting to a company comprised mostly of syphilitic chimpanzees, probably.
To be fair, at least it's working just fine on some people's machines (like mine). It's not unplayable. Unplayable is Assassin's Creed Unity at launch. [editline]25th June 2015[/editline]
if refunds actually make devs work to make their games work on PC then i will officially declare 2015 the best year in video games for a while
I'm just worried that this will mean more delayed launches on PC while console users get it months ahead of us. Especially with this game being used as an example, I would have had to choose between inevitably getting it spoiled or have a sub-par launch (which again, it works just fine for me and people are really exaggerating these "unplayable" claims here)
I'm just worried that this will mean more delayed launches on PC while console users get it months ahead of us.
EDIT: I mean to say PC versions should be delayed if they're a buggy mess or lacking features most PC gamers would consider basic features of the platform! I did not mean to endorse later release for all PC games! But this is why PC versions should be released later; assuming they actually get the attention and care they deserve. People bitched about how long it took GTA5 to come out on PC, but it's a pretty amazing port. Best one I've played in awhile anyway.
If GTA IV and this aren't enough to stop outsourcing your fucking PC ports I don't know what will get them to do so.
Im wondering how steam refunds is effecting this decision. Now that publishers cant push a broken game like this and get away with it anymore.
Finally these AAA optimized-by-a-chimanzee framerate-locking rushjob-factory assholes can get what they deserve. [sp]'scuse my language[/sp]
And there were confirmed instances of WB employees going on NeoGAF and calling people complaining about the port "entitled babies."
That was proven false. People started a witch hunt based on a coincidence.
Hopefully this means something good for future PC development, that developers doesn't take shortcuts when porting to PC. But, the biggest problem could be that AAA developers thinks it's too big of a hassle to even develop for PC and just sticks to consoles.

GTAV was a fantastic port, but the story mode was seen as a joke considering everyone on planet Earth already knew the ending regardless of whether they played it on last gen or not. That's what really bothers me about Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releasing a whole two weeks later. Either games should release simultaneously across all consoles and the PC versions or they should be delayed until it's suitable to release them simultaneously. Arkham Knight's experience would suffer significantly if someone were to spoil the story.
Hopefully this means something good for future PC development, that developers doesn't take shortcuts when porting to PC. But, the biggest problem could be that AAA developers thinks it's too big of a hassle to even develop for PC and just sticks to consoles.
I expressed this fear as well. When do publishers start thinking that PC gamers are way too demanding compared to the console audience (And quality assurance is guaranteed on every sale)? And assuming that refunds played a significant part of suspending Arkham Knight sales, we now have more then a way of hurting their profits (If what I hear is true, each refund of Arkham Knight is costing WB money). Optimistically; I would think that publishers would see spending a bit more money on assuring a better product would probably benefit them in the long run. But that's assuming someone with common sense is making the choices on who handles the PC side of things; and clearly that was not the case at WB.
alternatively you could say theyre probably going to do all of jack shit because arkham origins was never updated past a certain point due to dlc development obligations
So what? Just re-release the game as it was, or still in shitty shape? Not release the game at all? Either option would just be another shit storm. And I won't lie, that would be hilarious to add more drama to the situation.
if refunds actually make devs work to make their games work on PC then i will officially declare 2015 the best year in video games for a while
I don't think it should be putting added pressure on the devs. Publishers are the problem here. They create very tight deadlines and restrictions and try to push the devs too far. What we should hope for is that this sends a message to publishers to stop pressuring devs into haphazardly finishing products that need more time.
