Scalebound may be cancelled; Microsoft to comment soon

I thought it looked fun, sad to see it go. Was definitely planning on getting it, but alas
they both feel nothing like their previous gen counterparts
I'm actually pretty hyped to get a PS4 one day to try out The Last of Us part 1 and 2 and the new God of War.
Oh yeah, that and motherfucking Red Dead Redemption 2
Wouldn't it be crazy if after all this time of Hideki Kamiya bashing Keiji Inafune for Mighty No. 9, that his game doesn't even make it to launch? Crazy.
No, because Inafune asked for a certain amount of money (from fans of a famous franchise thats been abused and forgotten, and not a major publisher for a platform exclusive), got like triple that amount, got full of himself and asked for more money for spin-offs, and then fucked it all up when it finally came out late.
If this gets cancelled, its not really comparable enough to be "crazy", games get cancelled all the time, even ones that get shown off.
Plus, if it doesnt make it to launch, at least it doesnt launch as a borderline scam disappointment.
i bet crackdown 3 is next. they haven't said anything about it since 2015
Nah, according to Microsoft, Crackdown 3 will "dominate" the PS4 :v:
I mean Crackdown 3 looks impressive with the whole Cloud thing running behind it but it would only work well if the situation is right. No overloading networks, no input lag and of course you are connected
So...
Metal Gear Rising 2 time? :v:
fuuuuuuuck WHY
I was so hyped for this. I wonder if the troubled development was why they didn't have a playable show floor demo at this last E3 (even though Microsoft planned on having so)

Konami says only pachinko version

RDR2 isnt PS4 exclusive though, only some MP stuff I think
Kind of bummed out. While the E3 presentation wasn't the best, it looked pretty fun imho. Was looking forward on playing both Nier: Automata and this. At least Nier: Automata's development is going smoothly.
RDR2 isnt PS4 exclusive though, only some MP stuff I think
I think he just meant it in the way of "RDR2 is currently not coming to PC, so I need a console and the PS4 so happens to be a console with a lot of other exclusives I really want to play".
Bummer, I like Platinum Games.
sheesh Microsoft, the voice acting wasn't THAT bad
Man that honestly sucks but I hope it doesn't mean Platinum Games is suffering.
Wouldn't it be crazy if after all this time of Hideki Kamiya bashing Keiji Inafune for Mighty No. 9, that his game doesn't even make it to launch? Crazy.
Kamiya didn't bash Inafune. He just said he's a businessman more than a game developer, which is true, and he even respected him.
Scalebound was one of the big games my brother was hyped for after we got an Xbox One for Christmas, but to be honest, each E3 showing was just bland. For a developer renowned for crazy and fast action games (even Transformers, Korra and TMNT are fast in the right player's hands), this game was just looking sluggish and almost insultingly slower than even generic action games. Plus the performance issues that were worse than FFXV's E3 showings to boot. Yet even then I wasn't expecting an out-of-the-blue cancellation like this.

I get the overwhelmingly strong gut feeling that this is almost entirely due to Microsoft interference.
From what's going around Microsoft wanted Platinum to add a lot of freemium hooks and (in the words used) mine-craft like DLC as well as a ton of things to bloat the game into a horrible mess.
P* noticed that they couldn't get the game to run that well with all the bloat MS was trying to staple onto it and asked if they could cut some features back as it was too much- MS then threw a shitfit at them and demanded they make all the money hooks stay in and that the game running well didn't matter.
Tension on the project got really high and it was a emotionally draining project to work on and eventually Kamiya and a couple other heads had to go on a vacation for their mental health. When they got back Scalebound was getting Kojima'd where MS no longer cared and wanted to support it and eventually canned it.
Is it me or do (as of now considering this game's possible cancellation) the Xbox One's exclusive really pale in contrast to the PS4's?
Well, according to this article yes. It's not complete, but it does get the general idea across.
The PS4 does have a lot of either shitty (Knack, Driveclub, No Man's Sky) or niche (Bloodborne and games that have anime characters) games for it though, while the Xbone's lists consists of a lot of safer you-can-teach-your-girlfriend-who-has-to-look-at-the-controller-to-play games (Dead Rising 3/4 and a bunch of shooters and also golf while we're at it)
Basically, I'd say if you're into exclusive niche stuff made by Japanese developers go for PS4, if you're into shit like Halo and GoW and the occasional game of Zoo Tycoon or golf, go for Xbone.
Though honestly, I'd say the Xbone's free-games-with-gold catalogue far surpasses the PS4's every month and honestly makes up for the lack of exclusives.
In a way, part of me hopes that Nintendo will swoop in once again and save the day for Platinum, just like they did for Bayo 2.
However, I'm sure the game's budget was probably pretty damn high, and I'm sure Platinum would have to re-work the game a fuckton to get it to run on the Switch, so it may not be something they'd be interested in.
Meanwhile, tons of people in the comments sections for pretty much every article concerning this are saying that Sony should come in and save it.
Scalebound as a IP is owned by Microsoft. No one can save it.

Bayo 2 wasn't in development before Nintendo handed Platinum a wad of money and asked them for some good PR, so even if the IP wasn't owned by Microsoft you wouldn't get a similar situation.

I'll take this with warranted skepticism until proven otherwise, but somehow it doesn't surprise me. Microsoft is a very bad trendsetter and has been aiming for the moolah lately, so I can see them fucking over their own exclusives for arbitrary reasons even if it's been 3+ years after the release of the Xbox One.

Compared to everyone else? Not really. I'd say they've been getting better while Sony and arguably Nintendo have been getting worse.

Yeah I don't think there's going to be a clear answer one way or another- what I posted though is from Unseen64 and various other folks that are pretty credible so I'll believe it for now.

While they have added backwards compatibility in a relatively reasonable format compared to PS4's lack of it and Nintendo's foolish decisions and overall have improved on Xbox Live compared to the declining quality of the other's internet services, Microsoft's been getting pushy in other fields. I'd say Xbox is their most legitimate and not-bullshit set of affairs right now.
iirc it was announced like 3 yrs ago. After that I don't think anybody even heard anythign about it until now.
It was supposed to be an xbone launch title iirc
I was kinda interested to see where it went but I guess it was always a doomed project after that disastrous E3 showing.
Not surprised, it looked incredibly slow and incredibly boring for a Platinum game
I reckon Platinum feel like they can't release another dud after last year, and this looked really mediocre.
It's weird that everyone thinks that P* only makes super fast action games. Some of their other games are really good luke Infinite Space.

It's their special. They're known for spectacle fighters like Revengeance and Bayonetta.
Though I agree, Vanquish was bloody brilliant.
