[QUOTE=Mister Sandman;30112178]fucking come on Texas, really? Attempting to defend the comforts of individuals but damaging the economy of the state in the process is a tough decision to make, and not one to take lightly.
This kind of makes sense, actually. Edit: Oops, read it wrong. Thought this was about the protests
Of all states I wouldn't expected Texas to back down. They should still pass it, let the TSA try and divert traffic from the number three and number six busiest airports in the world. Not to mention all the smaller airports and airfields.
I thought the FAA was the one in charge of banning flights.
TSA can't actually do that. Too bad our government is stupid and didn't bother to check if they could. Only the FAA has the authority to divert flights.

They're number 3 and 6 in the United States. Numbers 10 and 25 world wide. Edit: Wait those are numbers for this year. Last year they were 8 and 21.
I see that the TSA is protecting the rest of the nation from Texas. Good on their part.
I'd love to see the TSA try to do anything. 'So you want to go to Texas? TOO BAD, THEY DON'T COMPLY WITH OUR SUPER-FUCKING-RIDICULOUS STANDARDS!' And then the people trying to get home to Texas/see loved ones in Texas/do other Texas-related things will start coming on the news, and protesting.
Wait, Texas backing down from a fight? Never thought I'd see the day
This strikes me as really dumb. Now, maybe i'm wrong, but I really doubt it- these same Texans that are backing this law are probably the same conservatives that would vigorously defend something like the PATRIOT Act. Now, those are both debates for another time, but they're both the same concept- you give up some personal comfort or privacy in order to help protect the nation. To support one but not the other is hypocrisy and sort of reminds me of an angsty kid acting out for attention. And this is coming from ME, for those of you who know how I stand on this kind of thing.

Shutting down air-traffic wouldn't completely isolate Texas.

Few citizens want to see that POS legislation survive, but Congress does, because they get more power out of it.
