BeamNG is pretty neat, but the developers ruined it for me a bit when they kept verbally attacking people online like childish twats. They seem to have a beef with Bugbear.
Really? I've never seen this. I've only seen Bugbear jealous towards BeamNG. At least they don't encrypt their game files and pretend to support modding.
When they first announced BeamNG and I picked it up, my mom saw me playing in the test level and wanted to play herself. It is literally the only game I've ever seen her play for more then like 20 minutes, let alone enjoy.
The crashes are very nice but those smoke/dust particles look horrible.
BeamNG is nice, but we need something in between BeamNG and NCG. It's too jellyish in NG.
That's what bothers me about BeamNG. I can't decide whether to pick up next car game or BeamNG. NG seems to have a lot more possibilities for modding but NCG has nicer physics in my opinion. Also isn't NG still pretty much just you driving around alone? The other cars I've seen in videos don't seem to have any AI.

I think NCG has much more for a normal player to enjoy.
That's flatout 2 and that still doesn't mean bugbear support modding. They recently said they support modding which is a pile of shit because they still encrypt their game files. Any game can be modded, that's not the problem, I just refuse to support developers that try and make it difficult.
They are not encrypting their game files ; rather packaging them in a format tailored to the engine. At least BFS can be unpacked and repacked easily without any game breaking consequences, unlike pretty much every other game Only game that hasn't been fully cracked open yet (most likely due to lack of interest) is Flatout Ultimate Carnage, altough I do know it supports texture mods (it uses GFWL, unlike the other games) [editline]11th July 2014[/editline]
Who said they're a rubbish developer? I said I'm not going to support a developer that encrypts their game files to make it hard for people like me to make tools for them.
what the fuck Literally one guy on his own has managed to create an unpacker/repacker and a map editor for both games
Just gonna get it out there that just about anything you would ever like from a realistic car simulator is planned for BNG Development is slow, as there are only four developers where only two of them are actally doing the code. But give it time and you won't even recognize it in a year or two I bet. [editline]11th July 2014[/editline]
The crashes are very nice but those smoke/dust particles look horrible.
It's in very early alpha and pretty much anything are just placeholders yet. Except the cars and maps ofc. All the sounds are from ROR for example. They haven't even started development on sounds yet iirc [editline]11th July 2014[/editline]
Edit: though most of it is in just messing around. It is actually not about the crashing. It's about how much a crash can ruin your car and wallet. Eventually at least.
Omg they added the POLO R WRC, I'm SOLD
Omg they added the POLO R WRC, I'm SOLD
That's a mod

http://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=10993 Of course someone has made an unpacker, I'm already aware. I reversed their format for NCG before even checking on XeNTaX, that's not the issue here. The problem I have is Bugbear is claiming they're mod friendly yet they try their hardest to keep people from reversing their formats.
Not that I expect anyone to remember, but goddamn, this was the pinnacle of dynamic damage models back in the day. I give to you: Viper Racing. Hornballs and that weird wheelie function until your car was just a little chunk on the landscape. Good old days.
Imagine if BeamNG, Next Car Game, and Spin tires all combined into a single unified video game Not only would there be incredible vehicle destruction, but also terrain destruction/deformation I would pay $100 for that game (with single and multiplayer of course)
Now combine all of that with gta 5 and you get the most insane shit you've ever seen in your life
That's a mod
That still made me buy the game today :v:

Was it this or one of the other similar sims that is eventually going to be released on PS4?

I like all the cars up until the Mustang literally exploded from any impact. Just proves metal is best car material. We need to bring tanks back to the road! It's safer (for the tanks)!
i'm amazed that beam and next car game etc haven't all joined forces yet. they're all developing the same, very very niche product, and i think they could much better serve themselves if they collaborated on something also i feel like developing this technology as something on for their specific games that they're selling is really the wrong way to go about this. i can't pretend to understand the ins and outs of their businesses but i can't for the life of me understand why they aren't selling this tech to the likes of codemasters, world of mass development, etc i'd rather see technology of this sort implemented into a proper racing game or simulator, rather than buy a standalone title of really sub-par driving physics, just for the crashing, but maybe that's just me
I enjoy beamng but I find it incredibly difficult to control the vehicles above like 20 mph, even with a controller.
Great, now do this with people instead of cars
Great, now do this with people instead of cars
realistic bone breaking, bullet holes, slices and deformations jesus christ that would be horrible to look at yet amazing at the same time
realistic bone breaking, bullet holes, slices and deformations jesus christ that would be horrible to look at yet amazing at the same time
Make it an industry standard Advanced biological simulation in every game Imagine how satisfying FPS would be
can't wait for a realistic building demolition simulator.
Probably the most impressive game running on the Torque engine. Glad to see they are receiving the attention they deserve.
Wasn't it on CryENGINE 3?
I enjoy beamng but I find it incredibly difficult to control the vehicles above like 20 mph, even with a controller.
Don't fully throttle up. I had this trouble, but if you are gentle on the trigger you still gain good speed and you control reasonably well.

In a head to head comparison, Next Car game suffers greatly in comparison to BeamNG whether in relation to the car physics or damage mechanics. There are a plethora of other factors that explain why BeamNG isn't going to let out its soft body physics engine yet, at least not until they finish their first game with it.
NCG is a lot more accessible and the destruction is satisfying while also not being the end of your ride if you clip another vehicle. It's an arcade demo-rally game.
The cars in BeamNG used to be a lot less "stiff" making for really fun crashes. They updated all the cars to make them more rigid and it kind of lost its appeal. Anyway, I made a thing to edit the cars: http://www.beamng.com/threads/2994-DriveEditor-Vehicle-Configuration-(-jbeam)-Editor-GUI There are probably better tools by now, though.
This engine, Need 4 Speed Underground 3, Oculus Rift, Logitech G25 wheel, I'd be the world's most nicest person if that were to happen.
