Amazon Beats Valve to the Punch: Amazon Digital Summer Sale Starts Now!
92 replies, posted
Warp any good? What about stronghold?
Does anyone actually know when the Steam Summer Sale starts? (Alliteration aside.)
I heard reports that it starts today, another that it started last week, etc etc, but no actual official date.
I'm going to guess that it'll start tomorrow at Noon CST. I believe that's usually when old sales end and new ones begin.
I thought it was going to start a week ago, but since it didn't, and didn't start today, tomorrow seems likely.
It's nice to have some other options, though.
I don't think my wallet is going to make it.
£20 seems a bit much for Max Payne 3, think I'll wait it out on that one
Which games on those list can be activated on Steam?

The ones that don't say retail and say steam.
Question, is the Darkness 2 steamworks, or is it just a download link?
Why does it matter?
This just in Valve 1up's Amazon. Holds a bigger sale with more discounts.
£5 for Bioshock and Bioshock 2, would advise anyone who hasn't played them to get them now. esp since they'll be a good precursor for infinite

I bought it for £30 and it was worth every penny.

In the list in the OP, every game but Syndicate requires Steam. Syndicate requires Origin.
For any game not on that list, check their individual Amazon pages.

Well allot of those games don't have a "Steam-DRM" section like some of them do, which makes me wonder if they are the non-Steamworks versions
This is a good thing, I think valve will try even harder now that amazon is trying to undercut them.
It's nice to actually see some real market competition here.

it came out recently and it's an amazing game so it's definitely worth the price.
Oh my god WHY! I bought you a week ago dammit!
You can buy it again for me if you want :v:

There's no standardized location for them to say it uses Steam, most games include them in the system requirements. I took the time to check each page myself, but if it reassures you then check for yourself.
And from what I saw, Max Payne 3 was the only one that had a "Steam DRM" section, most games on Amazon only give you one choice.
All I want is Driver San Francisco.
It looks like a really fun driving game that's not too realistic, but not overly goofy either. Plus the shift mechanic and first person view seem sexy.

I got it last week on sale and it's really good. Multiplayer seems dead but the singleplayer is still fun. Decent length campaign with better story and writing than you'd expect for a driving game. For $20 it's a steal.
On the Amazon front, picked up Max Payne 3. Was saving for other games but I can't pass up 50% off so soon after it's release.
Steam will not beat these prices for max payne, spec ops, or darkness 2.
I'm tempted by Spec Ops-The Line but I think I'll just wait for the Steam sale and get more games for the same amount of money
Any clue how long spec ops will be on sale? It says keep checking back, I don't know if they're going to replace the sales or just add new ones. Don't want to get spec ops and find out they put diablo 3 on sale next week. I wouldn't expect blizzard to put D3 on sale so soon(or at all, for that matter), then again I wouldn't expect any company to let their game be sold for half off less than a week after its release.
Dam they don't take Paypal
Ebay owns paypal
Amazon is a direct competitor to Ebay
go figure.

Fuck, I bought it anyways. Fuck you Steam, you're not getting my money this time.
Although I already bought Deus Ex: HR.... Fuck
So will these sales stay throughout the month, its just the weekly deals that change?
Is there any way for someone from the UK to take advantage of this sale?
Yay Bioshock 1/2
I definitely regret buying Max Payne 3 on release day now. It'll be $10 by Christmas.
Borderlands GOTY: $7.49
These are good prices but I managed to get a 4pack of borderlands GOTY for about that same price a year and a half ago on steam.
amazon does take paypal though
Nah they don't son.
MW3 50% off less than a year after it was released? C'mon Activision, you're slipping.
