The thing I don't like about this sort of thing is that people see something like this happen and then say "hurr Tories are homophobes", even though it was just one member who said it, who was then suspended. Even if it had been a Labour/Lib Dem member I would have the common sense to realise it was just one person and to not stitch it on the whole party.

Under the assumption that being gay has anything to do with genetics (as opposed to the argument that people become gay through the circumstances they grow up in), the only reason there are more heterosexuals than homosexuals would be because heterosexuals are obviously more likely to create offspring.

Back on topic - frequency of anomaly doesn't make it normal. I don't know if a settled proof have been found, but there were many researches pointing out that there is an actual genetic error in gays genome. Again, you have gingers and albinos, who are again a genetic abnormality. While being much more frequent than lambs with two heads and people with 6 fingers, they are still not normal.
