Okay. So how about those stuck up, rich-ass people of the North?
i don't think that's really a common stereotype of the north at all
people associate the north with cities and cold climate and factory workers. if anything that stereotype is probably more closely associated with california
Because we all know that everyone in the south is a racist, and there's no one outside that stereotype, so it's totally fine to act bigoted and prejudiced against the south.
Lots of smart, educated people in the south. But also a higher concentration of [in my opinion] dumb-asses too.

OH GOD TEXAS IS INFESTED WITH CONSERVATIVE VAMPIRES

I hope your psychiatrist makes a breakthrough soon.
Fuck Texas.

For some reason, his plumpness did not come as a surprise to me.
I like how he felt comfortable explaining why he would deny classes to the voters, but he never said why he wouldn't teach Muslims.
I wish people would stop pulling shit out of their ass whenever Texas is mentioned. If you've lived here you can say all you want, but what you hear on the news is not as common as you want it to be. The state is one of the biggest and spans vast areas of nothing-ness, were going to have our share of idiots. Though you have to remember we also have about 3 major universities, 4 major cities, NASA and quite a lot of other high tech industry. We have the biggest wind farm in the world which generates more than half of the power California generates using wind, and we get 10% of our energy from nuclear power. Other than California, Texas is probably the only state that would be able to successfully operate as a separate sovereign nation tomorrow if the Union suddenly dissolved.
We may talk funny and drive big trucks, but Texas really isn't all that different than the rest of the country. Though I don't deny we have problems in general education that need fixing.
I live in Texas, specifically in San Antonio, and lived in California prior to that. It's a difference, not a overly huge one, but very noticeable. The thing that really irks me is the higher number of rednecks
"You know what really ticks me off? People making offensive generalizations based on the bad examples of a few people! Just like all those bigoted, ignorant Texans!"

The fact that this came from a man called "Big Dumb American" somehow makes this better.
Do you expect the people of Texas to get an education and perform highly trained positions?
ahem.

That hat is so exaggerated it's not even funny. You see cowboy hats here but that's just ridiculous. It's like he woke up and asked himself: "What stereotype should I dress up as today?"

I think a move to Texas from anywhere is going to be a noticeable difference. It still doesn't mean we're all rednecks. We also have ranchers, farmers and cowboys which might be mistaken as a redneck, but in reality aren't. Extreme conservative views are not limited to Texas and will eventually phase out, but it's just really prominent here because of our massive Rural population.
The 1st Amendment prohibits the government from punishing a person for speaking their mind.
He provides a voluntary service, and people are more than able to choose not to spend their money with him.
The first amendment isn't the issue here.
The 1964 Civil Rights Act is.
He is now under investigation
quote from the texas department of public safety
“Conduct by an instructor that denied service to individuals on the basis of race, ethnicity or religion would place that instructor’s certification by the department at risk of suspension or revocation.”
Take the class, tell him you're a gay muslim afterwards.
I see nothing wrong with this from a legal standpoint. Hey, five years down the road when he has state investigators on his ass shutting down his business because a disproportionately high amount of shooting suspects just so happened to take his classes, maybe he'll wish he chose a more respectable demographic to "teach."
It's actually a bit more complex, since as this instructor he doesn't act as merely a private person but in part as an arm of the government, which is not allowed to discriminate based on beliefs, gender or ethnicity unless it has reason and dire need to support this discrimination.
(usually used in gender limitations - for military, firefighters and similar. Though there's fairly different lines of reasoning in the US and Europe for this aproach)
So the first amendment does not come into effect here.
You'd also be surprised at there being racist fucks in Korea, in Japan, China, Europe...why, it's almost as if there are racists everywhere!
Pretty heavily proven when a woman from Kenya walks into a supermarket in S. Korea and everyone flips their shit.
