So he hit the intruder causing a brain injury? Yeah, instead he should have let the intruder get up instead. This may have put his family back in danger, but at least the intruder wouldn't get hurt!

That's the logic that ends worlds.
Does that matter? It still doesn't mean they can do what they want and beat the crap out of the guy. Remember that it's not so much the fact that the criminal didn't deserve it I'm concerned about, but rather that people should not feel they can ignore the law because they got attacked. Remember that the police only use when necessary, and even then that's just to subdue them. It should be no different for anyone else.
Police are trained to handle these situations. Average people aren't.
Yeah, because you should be able to kill ANYONE because they could possibly be a threat to you. They WERE a threat, they had knives, they could have killed someone.
Police are trained to handle these situations. Average people aren't.
Which, of course, gives people all the more right to bash someones head in to the point of brain damage. While we are at it, why don't we give everyone guns?
what an asshole judge, really wtf
WTFWTFWTFWTF Also, what the hell kind of name is Salem?! That's the name of the town I go to school in (I used to live there until recently; now I'm living in the next town over)! How can the name of a town be a first name?! My last name is Salemme though.......
Which, of course, gives people all the more right to bash someones head in to the point of brain damage. While we are at it, why don't we give everyone guns?
You totally got the point of my post, obviously. I never said that because people aren't trained to handle the situation means that they should be able to kill somebody. I'm saying that you can't expect an average person to handle an attack appropriately. Which is exactly why courts are more lenient towards them then they are towards the person who attacked.
Its so blindly obvious when people don't read past the thread title.
I read the entire article. The intruders got what they deserved. (They did also deserve a prison sentence) The guy who hit them deserves a beer.
The millionaire got what he deserved, he had the guy pinned on the ground, and he broke a cricket bat over his head? That's more than self-defence, I hope he serves his full sentence, piece of shit.
The criminal got what he deserved, he was robbing a family, and got a cricket bat broke over his head. I hope he spends the lest of his life watching blues clues and sucking dinner threw a straw, piece of shit.
You do realise, that after he lobbed the coffee table at the guy and broke his face they chased him several streets and decked him so hard with a cricket bat it broke. Oh wait a second, 4 men decked him so hard with a cricket back it broke. That's fucking nuts, he's a psycho and a danger to society.
ITT : people don't read the article and spout some stuff about 'he was just defending his family' He gave the guy permanent brain damage, that guy needs to control his rage. :britain: We got a decent justice system.
The criminal got what he deserved, he was robbing a family, and got a cricket bat broke over his head. I hope he spends the lest of his life watching blues clues and sucking dinner threw a straw, piece of shit.
fucking climinals lobbing families
He smashed a cricket bat over the guys head, and it broke into three pieces! Bloody deserves it. I stay true to The United States of Britland. [editline]09:50PM[/editline] Also Daily Mail, blowing it up.
It is fair he went to prison, but damn it, i bet he feels so good right about now. Smashing that guys head in must've felt so grand, destroying the thing that threatened his family. I bet he knew he was going to prison, but i bet he is damn glad he did it. Heck he smashed a cricket bat into three pieces over his head, have any of you actually held a cricket bat?
Damn Americans coming about swinging their "Desperado Cowboy" cocks all over English threads. Fuck your shitty tea and your shitty chips.
I hate these stories, these make me wish I had Godly powers so I could free him.
uk are worse than hitler now fucking nazis, he probably saved the family
I'd say "Somebody should pretend to hold some of the Judge's loved ones hostage, see how he reacts" But I don't want to go to jail I'm not taking any chances with you crazy brits.
Another nail in the UK coffin
Same as US, where burglars sue people they rob all the time.
Land of opportunities :p
Somebody breaks into your home you should have the right to go Hostel on them :downs: I can understand why he raged that much when people broke into his home and held his family hostage. But the part where he went to jail for was plain revenge and had nothing to do with self defence. You forget that he already fought them of. He may however temporarily arrest criminals (at least in Germany every body has the right to arrest criminals while they committing the crime). Arresting however does not mean making somebody mentally disabled. What would you think if you stole a chewing gum, a police officer comes along, takes his baton and hits you untill you're half dead, sitting the rest of your live in a wheelchair and the court says "well you committed a crime, it's your own fault." Those things happen in dystopian countries, police states. Today EVERYBODY has basic rights. Of course many of you 14 year wannabe gangsta-cow-boys don't understand that but I bet you'd all piss yourself in such a situation and even if you got to grab somebody I doubt that you had the guts to easily destroy somebodies life by smashing their heads like a tomato.
The most scary thing in the world for me if I were married would be for something to happen to my family. And if ANYONE does ANYTHING to hurt my family I'm know I'm gonna do whatever I can to make sure those assholes get what they deserve. Now, I'm sure the man wasn't intending to fuck up the punk's brain, but if I were him, swinging that cricket bat at his head would seem perfectly reasonable.
Fucking fucked system, I hate this bullshit.
Fucking fucked system, I hate this bullshit.
Location Sugar Land, Texas Speaks for itself. :smug:
In the US that man would have gotten a fucking award for taking out that asshole. He took that guys family hostage and threatened to kill them, that's bad enough for people here to overlook any brutal beating he'd have gotten after being chased down. I say that guy should've continued beating on him until he died. I wouldn't put up with any asshole threatening me or my family.
so, if i threaten to steal your stereo do I just get a regular beating
Laws are laws, he crossed the line of self defence hence it became assault. Re-read the article you three.
Okay so the next time someone breaks into my home and holds my family hostage I'll pull out a law book and look up the respective criteria of "self defense" and "assault". I'll be abiding by the law and protecting my family. :downs:
Laws are laws, he crossed the line of self defence hence it became assault. Re-read the article you three.
Ya but like, if someone broke into my house with a weapon I would go over the line to immobilize them if possible. What if you attack them just a little bit and they get back up? I'd attack them till they were no longer a threat at all if I could.
It should be in the hands of the police after they've run off. Vigilante action isn't right.
What a load of bull.. to be quite honest if someone broke into my house I see no reason why they don't deserve to get a good beating or at most a bullet in them
