Valve pulls Hatred from Greenlight due to disagreeing with the subject matter of the game.

Your example would be bad because it's racially loaded though, this isn't, it's just very violent
content wise it's not at all too different from GTA and Postal, the only real differences are the lack of a comedic theme really
And a (used to say white here) loser kid in a trenchcoat shooting up innocents isn't (used to say racially) stereotypically loaded?
And a white kid in a trenchcoat shooting up innocents isn't racially loaded?
are nathan explosion lookalikes minorities now
And a white kid in a trenchcoat shooting up innocents isn't racially loaded?
are you implying only white people wear trenchcoats?
Wouldn't it be nice to know why though?
Its pretty obvious why. I wouldn't expect them to allow Ethnic Cleanning 2 on steam. No one would question why.

Watch_Dogs is on Steam, though.
are nathan explosion lookalikes minorities now
Racism has nothing to do with minorities, it's generally more expressed in areas of minorities.
are you implying only white people can wear trenchcoats?
Way to miss the point. I'm implying that you exhibit the same behavior when you blow up yourself and fellow people in a bomb attack as when you shoot up your fellow people on the street and shoot yourself when its all over. Neither is something a company would want to publish a game about.
uhhh......... no. no it isn't.
what the fuck does race even mean to you, or the term 'racially loaded'? If any person went out and shot up a bunch of random innocents, how the FUCK does that have anything to do with race?
I meant stereotypically loaded, simka threw me of with his cheap comment. You know, trench coat mafia and stuff like that.
I think the biggest problem with Hatred is that it literally just advertises itself as "kill civilians : the game"
GTA and payday promise bank robberies, Hotline promises challenging gameplay and 80s aesthetics and so on
I think there's a world of difference if you're openly advertising as taht
that being said the devs handled it with remarkable maturity, and are still gonna release it

How would a white kid shooting up innocent people be different from any other race shooting up innocent people?

That FNVG article, where the author accused the devs of being neonazis, was sensationalist. If anyone glanced at basic secondary school history, then they would realize that "polish neonazi" is an complete oxymoron. No idea why people automatically believe that article.

Yes, murder is so much better if you rob a bank in your Marty Mcfly cosplay while doing it.

You should read the edited post, I shat out 3 posts quite fast.
But in case you don't wanna, replace white with loser and replace racial with stereotypical
In case you still dont get it here's a hint

I read your posts I just couldn't figure out what exactly the issue was.
Are you saying their shouldn't be certain tropes in videogames? (loser antisocial outcast character)?
If so what tropes are allowed and why?

Chill out, that comment was a joke.
I was saying that a game about a muslim suicide bomber would be a lot more racially loaded than a generic metalhead in a trenchcoat gone insane. Hence why it's a terrible example. One could very easily be defined as racist, while the other is just inappropriate.
No I'm saying portraying the loser in a trenchcoat as a homicidal maniac is the same as portraying midle eastern fella as a suicide bomber, it breeds negative stereotypes and I can understand why Valve doesn't want to publish the game.
All of my posts are trying to explain my original comparison but it's like you people don't want to get it.

Poor, misguided kids. They and their victims could've accomplished so much in life. I feel like society failed them. And still we go after things like video games in fear they'll lead to repeat incidents instead of actually trying to solve the real issue. You have people who are timid, friendless social outcasts simply because they're awkward or were never able to build up experience to ably adapt. Gullible. Easily influenced by the mere promise of inclusion in something. But they're ignored.

You lost me, Valve doesn't want to publish it because it breeds negative stereotypes about losers in trenchcoats?

What are we allowed to portray people as then?
Die Hard is a lot more boring when you can't portray a single German as evil.
Do like Germany does. Robots with green blood.
Die Hard just got a lot more exciting.

You can portray people as whatever the fuck you want. Just don't act entitled when are company with a big name and a lot of money on the line chose not to.
You lost me, Valve doesn't want to publish it because it breeds negative stereotypes about losers in trenchcoats?
Took you long enough

They've done it with countless extremely similar games. The only thing that really makes this game different from GTA and Postal 2 is the lack of comedic theme
We don't have any clear reason why this game isn't allowed and they are
All we have is guessing
You lost me, Valve doesn't want to publish it because it breeds negative stereotypes about losers in trenchcoats?
I've cracked it. This isn't about the violence.
It's about the trenchcoat.
Doug Lombardi is a trenchcoat enthusiast who has been waging the one man war for years to rehabilitate the trenchcoat after the tragedy of the Columbine shootings.
If Hatred saw the light of day, it would set back his work by whole decades. It was offensive because the uhh protagonist? wears a trenchcoat. If he'd been cast in booty-jeans and a tank top, then Lombardi would have greenlit that motherfucker faster than you can say, "M'lady."

Because Valve acts as distributors, not publishers for those games?

So should Valve add to their terms of agreement.
You're game cannot contain references to loner/antisocial trenchcoat wearers.

"In order to be considered for Greenlight, your game cannot needlessly perpetuate discriminating stereotypes"
Doesn't sound that stupid once you get over this particular scenario now does it.
Steam is not a platform for art, it's a video game distributor. And when stuff is released trough Greenlight Valve acts as publisher, instead of the distributing role they hold relative to titles like GTA, Postal and what have you.
So yes I'd say they're allowed to be anal about what gets trough, even if its inconsistent and entirely to avoid a soccer mum outcry.
It's been proven time and again that video games doesn't cause violence so why is Hatred a special case just because it has a different brand of offensiveness?

You don't mean worse brand?
Steam is bloody large now how the fuck does a game by a bunch nobodies going to affect their reputation?
They don't have investors to worry about, they're a private company.
Having the game will literally do nothing to them

Private companies still have shareholders.
Otherwise I agree.
