Valve pulls Hatred from Greenlight due to disagreeing with the subject matter of the game.

This is stupid. We've had Rock Simulator make it past greenlight, yet not this.
Also, has anyone got the link of the trailer with "Wouldn't it be nice" in the background?

Buckley made a point. Well, I'm off to stock my doomsday shelter.
people tend to forget Valve is a corporation not some democratic entity
That doesn't mean we can't call them moronic.
Having a mass shooting simulator... probably not a good idea to have on Steam. Ultimately its their platform and thus, they can do whatever they want with it with or without explanation
-snip-
Turns out that Valve are SJW, after Chet Faliszek's comments I'm not surprised.
Yea but what's moronic about this?? pretty good PR call for a profit-concerned corporation to make
As others have pointed out they are still happy to sell Postal, and games which are irrefutable scams.
The only reason why they are denying this game is because journalists kicked up a fuss about it. Just like GTA.
mass shooting simulators are okay if the imaginary people you're shooting signed up to the imaginary army
Good on Valve. I really don't have a problem with violence in video games, but Hatred just takes it to far considering the only objective of the game is to play an edgy guy in a trench-coat who is angry and kill innocent defenseless people in various public places. There's no wit to be taken. It makes me feel sick to be honest. Even though you can commit similar atrocities in other games (GTA and Saints Row for example), at least those games try not to make that the focus of what the game is about.
It's strange how the context makes such a large difference between games objectives even though the visuals are not very different.
EDIT:
Actually now that I think about it, what REALLY is the difference between this and GTA? It's not like killing innocent people is less wrong in GTA. I suppose this is a bit of a double standard.
Oh boy, I'm really not sure how I feel now.
i just dont like hatred because it's just got no taste. i mean, gtav didn't either, but at least that game has some quality to it and is a little more indepth then "shoot everyone."
I was reading that the developers of this game are/were neo-nazis
I was reading that the developers of this game are/were neo-nazis
I'm pretty sure this was proven otherwise.

The first freaking mission has a joke on the title card.
That's hardly a joke
I was reading that the developers of this game are/were neo-nazis
they've come out and said they're doing it as a satire, so i'm pretty sure that statement is false.

It is a bunch of fictional pixels and trying to claim that there is some difference between what can be done in this game and GTA or Saints row is pointless. This is a lot like the complaints against Watch dogs because you can target minorities.
I mean if we are really going down this road should we ban Civ because it glorifies nuclear warfare?
mass shooting simulators are okay if the imaginary people you're shooting signed up to the imaginary army
Or more likely, forcefully drafted into their military.
Comparisons to Postal 1 don't make that much sense. The executions in Hatred make it much more violent.
I'm still not a fan of banning anything though.
I think Hatred works because it's NOT satire. That opening monologue from the trailer was so comedically over-the-top. And of course the gameplay is just non-stop slaughter.
But I'm more upset that Valve removed Ride to Hell: Retribution. I was saving up money to buy that...

i haven't played GTA V but in most GTA games, you either really have a reason to kill someone on a mission or you can avoid killing anyone, the game doesn't revolve around killing people indiscriminately, it doesn't force you to do anything like this

Are you crazy? Who would ever want that game, especially enough to save up for it.
This is shit. Why censor something because it's violent? There's tons of super violent shit on steam, even some more-so than Hatred.

and of course you can do like 5000 other things and drive around and be a doof

Please name several games on steam in which their sole purpose is to simulate mass killing
Hatred isn't really my type of game, but I'm against this recent surge of censorship from Target and now Valve.
If anything I'm interested in the OST, I love Adam Skorupa's music.

Still edgy as fuck.
Like, really, it even tries too hard to be edgy.
and of course you can do like 5000 other things and drive around and be a doof
And punch prostitutes in the face after getting a blowjob from them.
Please name several games on steam in which their sole purpose is to simulate mass killing
Defcon, but still I see why they pulled this. I might not agree, but, by the end of the day, Valve is a business, and they need to not have bad PR.
Still edgy as fuck.

that's the point, though?
it's purposefully being super ridiculously edgy
it's the game equivalent of a joke sonic oc and it's being pulled because they're scared soccer mom's aren't gonna get the punchline
It's much more embarassing and dumb to have all that half-assed unfinished indie crap oozing out of the steam market than having this for sale.
Still edgy as fuck.

And that is what makes it okay imo, it is so edgy to the point where you don't take it seriously.
Regardless, no games should get censored like this and it is concerning that people on here are supporting the censorship.
Does this mean they agree with the subject matter of gender bender?
The main reason they probably did this was to respond to the huge backlash the game got when it was announced so that they don't look bad. I guarantee if so many people didn't freak out over it they wouldn't of removed it
