The trouble is that the country is completely divided between liberals and conservatives. If you criticize liberals, you're a conservative. If you criticize conservatives, you're a liberal. Any such organization, even attempting to be as neutral as possible, will find more reason to criticize the conservatives than liberals, and so will be branded liberal.

Each EU country is also called a EU member state. US states are more comparable to EU member states than to states in EU country's.
