• Google Has Had Enough: Files Lawsuit To Ban Multiple Apple Products

that blog entry written before the samsung verdict even occurred, incredibly sensationalist title by the blog (of course, the name of the blog being "androidpit"), and not to mention the lawsuit BY motorola (owned by google) was started weeks ago.
The fucker is about to get fucked.
Honestly I doubt that will go anywhere.
good job google i love this banning more stuff neat...
can we please rename thread to "Google Has Had Enough: Files Lawsuit To Ban Multiple Apple Products"
Changed.
Fuck yeah
good job google i love this banning more stuff neat...
Either no stuff should be banned or all stuff. Otherwise consumers would have a biased choice in selection. But honestly, most patents related to smartphones are concentrated bullshit.
Not this shit again.
~THIS IS WAR~
Gentlemen....it has begun.
Stay classy Google. Don't do the same. Get money but don't try to ban them.
With this, I imagine a fleet of helicopters marked with "google" charging for the apple HQ, with tons of lawyers holding lawsuits :v:
this has gone from ridiculous to more ridiculous
For the lazy:
I knew this day would come. I can’t say that I hoped for it, but in all honesty, it was inevitable. Apple has been very busy lately in doing all it can to ban as many Android devices as it can, and HTC, Samsung, and Motorola have all recently got a small taste of the Apple juice lately. But something has changed: Google now owns Motorola, and aren’t wasting any time in defending their new acquisition, as they are now seeking a sales ban on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac computers in the US. This time, it’s personal, and contains a twist that could make this particular lawsuit a very dangerous one for Apple. This is the first case that Google has signed off on in defending their new hardware company, meaning that there’s no more lurking in the background providing support. This is full on Google with their law team directly involved. This isn't Google watching from the sidelines, but instead, they are calling this one play by play. But Google and Motorola were clever, as this isn't a lawsuit that focuses on silly topics such as icons or square shaped tablets. Google and Motorola are claiming patent infringement for non-standard essential patents. To put it simply, Google-rola has filed a case for a patent/patents that courts cannot legally force companies to patent, meaning that if they win this case, Apple could be forced to completely stop using the technology in their devices. We don’t have confirmation on exactly which Wifi related patent is in question here, but we do know that Motorola attempted to reach licensing agreements with Apple (since 2010), which Apple apparently refused. Motorola stated that: “We would like to settle these patent matters, but Apple’s unwillingness to work out a license leaves us little choice but to defend ourselves and our engineers’ innovations”. This is a big one for Google and for Apple. This isn’t just an OEM that Apple is dealing with now. This is one of the most powerful (if not THE most powerful) movers and shakers in the world. If this comes to trial, Apple will have its hands full, and might even be forced to rely on Microsoft for backup. The patent wars involving Android and Apple have now reached new heights, and with Google in the center, I have a feeling that things could get very very ugly for the companies that have sought to ban Android products.
Justified.

Well they have been acting awfully cocky for a few years now compared to most (if not all) of their competitors, so I can't really feel sorry for them if it goes that way. EDIT: Even though the consumers would also be losers, but they're ALWAYS the losers in patent lawsuits.
This whole deal could be summed up by a video of several pantsless men in suits and ties all running in a circle trying to suprise buttsechs the guy in front of them while the Benny Hill theme plays in the background.
EA employees rising up against EA itself, and Google rising up against Apple, who has picked on Google for so long? What the heck is going on here?
EA employees rising up against EA itself, and Google rising up against Apple, who has picked on Google for so long? What the heck is going on here?
They got inspired by the Arab Spring, I guess.
Where's my popcorn.
It has to get worse before someone in power realizes this(patent law) needs to be fixed... or maybe they will just keep ignoring it. The people in power aren't really interested in doing much of anything useful.
What I hope Google do if they win is force Apple to agree to lift bans on Android products and stop suing Samsung, HTC, Motorola etc so the competition can be on the shelves, not in the courtroom. I doubt it though.
Go Google!

What Apple has shown so far is they will try to sue over vague as hell patents to try and eliminate competition. I don't know if news on patent lawsuits just wasn't as common before, but they sure as hell appear to have started to spike after Apple started trying to sue everyone. The impression I get from all of the recent patent wars is that if Apple exists, it will continue to try to eliminate everyone else. If Apple ceases to exist, everyone can continue on as they were before, when patent lawsuits on phones and software seemed to be rare. It seems to be a choice between: A: "Apple and only Apple" or B: "Everyone else".
And then google wins 1 billion dollars, and gives it all to samsung Good guy google.
EA employees rising up against EA itself, and Google rising up against Apple, who has picked on Google for so long? OP, when you post in sensationalist headlines again, refer to this thread as a pretty good template of what your post should look like: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1208444 Its good to include the main article in a quote, link the source and maybe include a picture if a visual aid is needed to understand the story. The object is really to provide viewers with all they need to know about the story without leaving facepunch, if they want to read the whole article they can click on the source.
This article is a week old. Just an FYI.
fuck both fuck the patent office give them back their funding so they can revert to the old system
Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. I just hope google knows what they are doing. I love all the butthurt fanboys worried about the company that has more money then the US government getting sued, how many of you cheered when we got the Apple vs Samsung verdict?
