Are you saying that I am a closet trans because I think women being portrayed in most forms of media is a little bit creepy
Wouldn't that make me an Omega Male
There's a difference between "I think women should have equal rights, get paid for their labor and have control over their bodies" and "the portrayal of women in Bayonetta is disgusting. Ban this sick filth!"
One is a noble cause that was fought by great people forty years ago in the United States and continues to be fought to this day in other countries... and the latter is the bile a freshman psychology/gender studies student writes on their tumblr blog. The men who are willing to admit that the media turns them into woman hating monsters are self-loathing due to their biological sex and that is where the term "beta male" comes into play.
And it's still a masculinity-attacking insult rather than a useful descriptor. We can play semantics all day, but these stupid bandwagon terms you folks have adopted are just as ridiculous as your proposed movements.
I disagree and I will argue with you and risk this thread getting locked after 20 pages of word trades just to prove my point.
Fight me, bitch. Unless you're some kind of beta male who'd rather be at home manscaping or something like that.
:v:
Oh, I know this one! It's a derogatory term used against anyone who supports Feminist causes. It implies that they're not as masculine as someone who doesn't support or actively detracts from those causes. A proverbial nutshot.
No, a Beta Male is a male who lacks any charisma and confidence. In fact you can hate woman and still be a Beta, an example being a male who hates that he couldn't attract any woman even though he was a "Nice Guy" and blames it on females.
It doesn't really get thrown towards equality feminists but mostly towards males who actually believe in SJW causes (which I don't believe is actual feminism)
Basically white knights. Although the term is not mutually exclusive to them.
I agree that it doesn't really work on a forum like this, feels more like chan-speak.
It's better to be a BETA male.
Later in the development cycle, y'all.
This is objectively false because Anthony Burch is the archetypal beta male, and since no one wants to be Anthony Burch, no one wants to be a beta male.

This is the first time I saw someone use "beta male" in conjuction with AGG in a long-ass time, cause that term is indeed ridiculous. But good job jumping to conclusions about everyone else who dares disagree with your views on the matter.

Look up and you might find the joke.
I feel like I'm missing something. Female characters have been a staple of fighting games for decades. What was so different about this one?
It's obviously not skimpiness, it's not minority, it's not oversexualization... I can't rationalize this.
It's cause she's a weeb warrior to boot and a bunch of nerds don't want any funny business in their serious fighting game with bears, boxing raptors, a kangaroo, an old Russian scientist, and a man with a fucking cat for a head.
I'll be entirely honest, I don't keep up. Don't try to. Don't really care. I just like seeing the responses when I get things so egregiously wrong. You people are so funny sometimes, what with your actually getting offended and all.
So what you're saying is that you're a shitposter.
Okay?

Sometimes, sure. We all are at times. Are you not mildly irritated by now? Is that really warranted? Can you kind of see where I'm coming from?
I'm not really irritated, no. A single person's opinion, however ignorant or slanted, does not warrant my irritation.

Sorry about that, I'll let you have this back. Any ideas what's causing that, other than the general gamer zeitgeist and cultural reinforcement of traditional gendered imagery through advertising?

Why do you care though? He said something stupid. This stupidity was exposed. It doesn't warrant any more attention than that.
And if you think FP is anywhere near the political right, then you haven't quite met right wing people I'd say. Not to mention how RADICALLY different "right wing" is in, say, Europe and the USA.
But even then, why does it matter? Facepunch has always been a heavily left-leaning place, in fact I remember when the public opinion here was the spitting image of the fedoratheist meme before that was a thing that injected a little self-awareness into teenagers.
But back to my point, what if there are more right-leaning posters now? Are they destructive? Are right-wing thinking people inherently wrong? So long as the scales of political balance don't tip too far either direction into extremism or turning the place into an echo chamber, I'm fine with differing views or opinions.
there's been a lot more sexist and racist shit here in the last little while. a lot of people were on the police's side for the Ferguson protests and such. becoming more islamophobic and xenophobic, basically becoming an un-nice place. wait for the next thread on a racial issue and you'll notice it too.
Didn't the same thing happen on SA a few years ago? And then there's most of the 4chan boards, which blur the line between parody and reality more than often. This isn't just happening here.

Calling someone a Beta makes you a right winger? What?
It is an insult orientated towards Males but usually just pathetic ones, I fail to see anything political about that.
especially those cop threads, facepunch loves cops now or something. last i checked facepunch thought bill deblasio was in the wrong for not allowing systemic racism in the justice system, and doesnt think that the cops using work to rule was inappropriate.
im not really going to derail anymore, but just watch for right wing shit, because its creeping on SH.
I know you're not trying to derail the thread but I have a real problem with this statement because you just mis-represented people who disagree with you as racists and such. Believe it or not people can side with the cops in certain issues and do it because they believe they aren't all racists.
there's been a lot more sexist and racist shit here in the last little while. a lot of people were on the police's side for the Ferguson protests and such. becoming more islamophobic and xenophobic, basically becoming an un-nice place. wait for the next thread on a racial issue and you'll notice it too.
I can honestly see why people were siding with the police, when those who protest the killing dip into straight-up extremist behaviour. Extremism and violence, whichever side it is on, and however warranted it may be, can repulse a lot of people who will instinctively back the other side afterwards.
The same mechanism is what causes Islamophobia. When ISIS rampages through the middle east, comitting acts that repulse and horrify the Western world, a lot of people will instinctively join whichever side opposes them the loudest. Is this a well-thought-out course of action? No. It's a knee-jerk reaction, but entirely understandable.
Same goes for, to use an example on the opposite end of the spectrum, when people hear of a rape accusation and immediately wish death and all kinds of horrible things on the accused, disregarding the core principle of "innocent until proven guilty" because the act in question repulses and horrifies them, and I see a lot of that here, too.
So long as the userbase of FP at large remains balanced, I don't see a great issue. It's also important that people like you, in this case, exist, to represent an opposing opinion and argue for what you believe in. Nothing's more destructive than an echo chamber, no matter how "nice" that echo chamber is. That is one lesson the events leading to GG has shown me.
Calling someone a Beta makes you a right winger? What?

I thought that a right wing ideology was "I'm/we're more superior that you"
This whole "Beta Males" nonsense was also created by idiots who thought they were left wing that happened to also think that men are superior to women, which is a right-wing ideology.

What has 'beta', 'alpha' or anything like that have to do with 'right'? Stupidity is not reserved by any political affiliation.
I thought that a right wing ideology was "I'm/we're more superior that you"
What kind of logic is that. This means a lot of left-wing movements are right-wing as shit because of thinking that they're right and everyone else isn't, which makes them superior by definition. Don't bring politics into everything. Facepunch may have 'loosened' up a bit with more people freely expressing stupid shit, but hey, we also have people exposing their stupidity just as freely. Facepunch is not going anywhere 'left' or 'right'. I, for one, welcome this change. Because it's far more important to see stupidity and extremism exposed for what it is than censored on the spot.

I'm an incredibly left-leaning person, I just don't like the extremists on the liberal side either. They're just as bad, arguably worse than the hardcore right.
I thought that a right wing ideology was "I'm/we're more superior that you"
The Right Wing was not created by nazis, you know...
In fact, your description of it aptly fits a lot of (particularly smug) left-wing people I know as well.
I'm an incredibly left-leaning person, I just don't like the extremists on the liberal side either. They're just as bad, arguably worse than the hardcore right.
The one way they are worse, in my opinion, is that while stomping right-wing extremists for their idiocy is absolutely fine, left-wing extremists are often treated like something of a holy cow.

I explained earlier being a Beta does not mean you are a man who supports feminism, rather you lack any sort of charm and can't speak up for yourself. Basically a wimp.
Being a wimp does not mean you are feminist.
I also believe your origin of it isn't true at all, IIRC it might of started in either a fitness forum or a Chan.
Also the far right isn't about superiority but traditionalists values which do include sexism.
uh, no, it isn't. You have a VERY basic interpretation of politics if you seriously think that.
you act pretty fucking smug sometimes, so I'd call you right-wing under your definition of it.
I mean I hate to bring up Wikipedia but it agrees with me
Right-wing politics are political positions or activities that view some forms of social hierarchy or social inequality as either inevitable, natural, normal, or desirable
I think they're calling it 'Traditional family values' now, aren't they?
I mean I hate to bring up Wikipedia but it agrees with me
I think "I'm better than these people" is just a human trait. It isn't exclusive to the left or the right.
I think "I'm better than these people" is just a human trait. It isn't exclusive to the left or the right.
Right wing policies are generally anti-equality and agree with class-based societies. It's not really "we are better than you" more that "some people are better than other people."
