Middle school students pray at mosque during field trip; soccer moms outraged.

I bow my head any time there's a service going on whether I'm in a synagogue, church or mosque. I completely respect any belief and I don't feel like creating a massive shitstorm just because I don't believe.
The kids are the only sane ones on this story.
Wow, kneeling on the floor in a building.
So much controversy. :frog:
If they wanted to do it I do not see what is wrong with it. I went to a church one time, but I did not want to pray to it but I still showed my respects.
I'm atheist and if I ever found myself in that situation, I might not have prayed but at least I would have showed my respect.
Hating religion and the religious is going against the very concept of atheism itself. Religion is unfalsifiable, therefore blindly believing that there is no God without absolute evidence is just like blindly believing there is one.
And oh shit soccer moms are actually doing something GOOD this time.
It doesn't matter if it's not your religion. Example, if you live in India (just an example) there are Hindu's, Sikhs and Muslims. Now if you are invited to to the temple, or a mosque, people usually go there and attend a service. Are you converting? No. You're showing respect to that faith.
People need to be more open minded in America, seriously. I have seen people of other religions go to a Church before under the circumstances of not wanting to look like an ass (they were tagging along) and paying their respects or sticking around for a service
It isn't disrespectful to not participate if you're not interfering. If I'm at a table where people are saying grace I'll just sit there and keep my mouth shut until they finish but I won't join in.
Hey fuck you soccer moms.

oh wait fuck that is a misleading title

That's what I would probably do if I were an Atheist. It's best to just leave people alone about what they beleive. We don't want another Spanish Inquisition.
This is real bullshit, according to the Qur'An we muslims are allowed to go into churches and pray with christians. Because Jesus is our prophet too. I'm so fucking tired of exaggerating filth like these soccer moms
I was taken to a mosque on an organised school trip at age 11, no one thought anything of it.
Glad I live in the UK
Me too. We were taken to temples of nearly all of the major religions during some field trips and when we were there we got to pray as they did and do the stuff they did. It was actually kind of fun!
No they're not. They're as holy to christians as churches are to muslims
It's actually okay for a Muslim to pray to Allah in a church. As long as there are no pictures or statues or anything that may resemble a person in front of the person.

Muslims can pray anywhere as long as the place they're praying fits that criteria. I worked with a guy that'd use the lunch room, and I asked him about it.

Exactly.
Obviously it's better to pray in a Mosque, but anywhere will is fine, really.
Wait so now that someone shows respect to religion Facepunch looks up to them, yet when anything other with even the slightest hint of religion surfaces you all go on a wild religion flaming trip? Are you people even thinking?

It's different people everytime I think
if kids were taken to a christian church and prayed there would be no quarrel
just another proof of how dumb christians can be.
No they're not. They're as holy to christians as churches are to muslims
This, not what the other guy said. Apparently, to him, Christianity =/= Islam.
Angry soccer moms give good head.
BEING MUSLIM IS BAD BECAUSE IT MAKES YOU CONVIRT TO SILAM OR KIFFLOM OR WHATEVER AND THEN LITTLE TIMMY BOMBS BUILDINGS WONT SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN PRAYING IS EVIL AND NAUGHTY ESPECIALLY AT MOSQUES OOHHH THINK OF THE CHILDREN
caps
The field trip was part of a required social studies course, “Enduring Beliefs and the World Today,’’ which introduces students to world religions. Students had earlier visited a synagogue, attended a gospel music performance, and met with Hindus.
And the soccer moms only were upset when they went to a mosque? God stuff like this pisses me off so much.
Publicly execute the children.
Why are they so butthurt?
It's not like they were being forced on their knees to pray.
Fucking hell, I mad.
what this displays is that a saddeningly large percentage of Americans are uneducated bastards who look for any excuse to make hell for people not of their beliefs. Religous fandumb indeed
eh snip
