Don't be a smartass. Yes, we'd send more people. But you, and others, seem to forget that this is THEIR land. We are operating beholden to the SK government, and they have a fuckhuge military. They will be leading the fight. We'll be right there next to em, but in smaller numbers.
I mean, when they threaten Seoul over Guam, sure. But they're threatening a fuck huge base in the Pacific, which I'm sure you're aware is there for reasons far greater than NK. If they did send a bottle rocket that direction, we're probably not going to ask for permission to send people into NK, and if we ever did, it would certainly be after the fact.
In reality, what is the SK government going to do? Tell us no?
Remember when people would keep yelling that they didn't want Hillary as president because they thought she would start nuclear war with Russia?
Life comes at you fast, huh?
t_d is fuckin pumped to go to war with North Korea. Watching people so readily flip a complete 180 on their stances is fucking bizarre.
Oh yeah? And what would Hillary be doing that Obama, Bush, and Bill Clinton couldn't do about North Korea?
What do you think Obama, Bush, and Bill should have done about North Korea?
I don't mean to sound condescending, but do you really think that the US military, especially underneath Trump, will act or operate beholden to anyone?
As a member of the US Military currently in SK, I can confidently say that we are here as long as the SK government wants us here. They can tell us to kick rocks.
It's not really relevant what I think they should have done - the point I was making is that it's unfair to attribute the current circumstances to Trump, it'd be the same as blaming him for Iraq.
People aren't attributing the current circumstances to Trump, they are reacting to his threatening rhetoric.
As opposed to what? Trump wants to posture to North Korea, how's that worse than Obama's policy of waiting them out?
He's just making statements, he hasn't nuked millions of North Korean civilians like everyone here has been proclaiming he will do since he took office.
Because it clashes badly with the arguments for Trump being that Hillary was a warmonger who would take us to war. Trump hasn't done anything yet but he seems a lot more eager than the last few presidents, certainly more than I'd imagine Hillary would be.
Coyeteze post was referencing Trump's base and never came close to attributing current circumstances to Trump exclusively so I have no idea where you are pulling these claims.
As a member of the US Military currently in SK, I can confidently say that we are here as long as the SK government wants us here. They can tell us to kick rocks.
i'm saying the opposite - in the event of a full-scale war, the us military would quickly take the wheel
Because the true goal of the United States is to force China to stop putting up with North Korea. The United States won't nuke North Korea unless we're attacked first, which won't happen. Kim's goal is deterrence not suicide.
Trump is playing up the severity of the situation to the international community. It's much more likely for China to actually DO something with a president who's making threats back to North Korea than one who is silently biding their time.
Trump has been a diplomatic disaster for the United States generally, I think it's a bit of a Hail Mary to say that him acting like, frankly, a North Korean dictator himself is going to encourage China to do anything more than they are already.
And, again, this has literally nothing to do with what Coyoteze said.
Yeah, I'm responding to you now??
Who attributed current circumstances to Trump?
China's position on North Korea has moved more in the last 8 months than the 10 years before it so I'm not sure how you're coming to that conclusion.
So now you are crediting Trump with the current circumstances after telling other people its unfair to to credit Trump with the current circumstances. I'm so confused.
[editline]8th August 2017[/editline]
I never said he attributed circumstances. He's not dealing with the situation in a way that's any less productive than the last 3 administrations. My point was that Hillary wouldn't be doing any better and no matter who was elected they'd basically be put into an impossible situation.
Which, again, is completely irrelevant to what Coyoteze was saying.
Two narcissistic authoritarian leaders that hate each other's guts for not bending over their powerful amazing selves. What's the worst that could happen, ayy
How? they literally said "people didn't want Hillary cause they thought she'd start a nuclear war, now Trump is threatening to start a nuclear war!"
My point was that this would be happening regardless of the President. I really don't understand what you're confused about.
The point Coyoteze was getting at was that Trump specifically was praised as the one candidate of the two viable ones that would not have taken us to nuclear war and it suddenly seems like that might be a possibility. A hugely remote one, but a possibility nonetheless. It was a dig at how gullible Trump's base is. It wasn't blaming Trump, or saying Hillary would have been any better.
Can you imagine a fucking war with this mouth breather at the helm? No thank you. He needs to not be so dramatic and use his fucking brain for once.
It has nothing to do with Trump's base, it's just another meaningless stab at Trump and his voters.
Pointing out the delusion and hypocrisy endemic to Trump's base is never meaningless.
Can you imagine a fucking war with this mouth breather at the helm? No thank you. He needs to not be so dramatic and use his fucking brain for once.
Part of me wonders if Trump realized that presidents often get elected for a second term if the US is involved in military action during their first term, and that's why he's so eager to escalate shit...

"hmmmm war makes a loooot of joooobs..."
Trump, no!
"hmmmm war makes a loooot of joooobs..."
Trump, no!
"Trump YES!"
Obama made a red line several years ago in Syria...
Trump draws his red line too.
Will he honour it?
The point is meaningless because under any past administration, including one under Hillary, the threat of nuclear war was just as real as it is right now under Trump. Just because Trump is actually SAYING that we would nuke North Korea in retaliation doesn't mean it wouldn't have happened under the past 3 administrations. The difference is that North Korea didn't have the technology until now.
It has nothing to do with Trump's base, it's just another meaningless stab at Trump and his voters.
How is the point meaningless? Trump was praised because it was said he wouldn't start a war. Now there is lingering threats of a possible war. People are pointing out the hypocrisy in the statements about Trump not starting a war. "Trump" could be replaced with any name and it would be hypocritical of that person. That's what everyone keeps explaining.
This feels familiar:

For real though. You guys better not drag me into any of this shit. At this point I don't care what Trump does I just wish he'd shut the fuck up once in a while. How someone who actually talks like this is running a country is beyond me.
Is this all a movie?
Except that Trump is stupid enough to commit to bat shit ideas.
I have to believe that even trump isn't dumb enough to nuke somebody.
Obama made a red line several years ago in Syria...

Will he honour it?
i wonder if mr president even knows what "honour" is
I have to believe that even trump isn't dumb enough to nuke somebody.
Isn't Trump known for not understanding why he can't "just use nukes" tho?
I have to believe that even trump isn't dumb enough to nuke somebody.
have you seen him talk about nuclear weapons

Oh man, they called his bluff.
I don't think Trump will preemptively strike, in fact I think it would be a very bad idea.
Oh man, they called his bluff.

Dude, Trump is a giant manchild with an attention span barely existing that has before asked why the US can't use nukes. If anyone would preemptively strike, it's him
I'm starting to think this was a threat.
Or a joke on himself?

What's even the point? The NK leaders must know everyone sees right through it.
