Twitter Testing Major Profile Redesign That Looks a Lot Like Facebook

At first I was completely against this, I like Twitter because it's simple
but then I realized maybe it means I can finally ditch Facebook, hmm
it makes me think that twitter might be trying to cash in on the popularity of some text posts on tumblr by emulating that style maybe
browsing tumblr is still a linear experience when actually used, the 'dashboard' feed is one long chronological chain. The only time you see stuff crammed up like I mentioned before is shitty themes nobody likes and the archive of a blog
What the heck happened to visual customization?
Big dogs like Google with Youtube and then facebook and twitter should definitely be able to afford to hire a team of monkeys who would whip up some customization options, let people to rearrange things, change size of stuff, ommit or add something to the interface...
Why is everyone seemingly sticking to one shitty rigid interface?
I don't care.
I comment to say I don't care to show that there are in fact twitter users who do not care about this redesign. I don't think it's better or worse.
I do not know if we are a minority or a majority, because speaking up about not caring is pointless. However, by not saying that I do not care I create the illusion that there are only people who are angry about this update. So I say this in the name of the many or possibly few who simply don't care, but still want the topic to remain concerned:
IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS HOLY I DECLARE THIS UPDATE TO BE SOMETHING I DO NOT CARE ABOUT.
Thanks.

Because letting people customize their profiles too much looks terrible. Ex: Myspace, or (to a lesser extent) YouTube's custom channel designs.
don't these dummies know anything about space conversation
increasing the text size 2x just wastes 2x more space

Well then you implemented shitty customization then, and/or your customers are idiots.
You can always work on one solid default and let people who want to fuck with it further do whatever.
This actually makes me wonder if anybody tried making some kind of overlays via greasemonkey and such.
Looks really cluttered, I think twitter's main appeal is that it's so simple and linear, not all over the place
Pretty much. It's great since it's literally just scroll down.
When you have shit all over the place you need to take a step back and it causes you to spend more time than you should when you're trying to read something.
Twitter has 241 million monthly active users, Facebook has 1.23 billion
I guess this doesn't technically disprove you tho
The problem with Facebook is that like 40million of their accounts were deleted due to being fake spam accounts, and there's probably like a few hundred million more fake accounts on it.
I'd like it a lot more if the tweets were top to bottom instead of all over the place

But the statistics show monthly active users. Most fake accounts aren't active monthly. And to compensate for the fake accounts that are, there are a lot of legit accounts that aren't active monthly. So 1.23 bn legit accounts is probably rightish.
