HOW DARE A CORPORATION DO SOMETHING TO ATTRACT CUSTOMERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOW DARE A CORPORATION DO SOMETHING TO ATTRACT CUSTOMERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's not really what's going on here. Imagine if your scummy cousin came to town, and stole your smartphone during thanksgiving. The next time you hear he's coming to town, he promises he'll be different and that he won't and he'll be just like the other cousin that you like. Do you really go, "Oh yeah, I totally believe you Bill."? By the same token, this somewhat rumormilled piece is Microsoft saying "Of COURSE we're the same old loveable Xbox 360 making guys." It strikes just too deep in the zone of pandering, beyond the border of attraction. And it might not even be TRUE! Should we really just sit back and go, "Oh yeah, I totally believe you Bill."? What if this isn't true? What if it's a half-truth? What if, what if, what if. All this is doing right now is drumming up support among the people who want to believe. It's like the two-faced politicians who promise one thing to a state, then reverse their stance at the next rally infront of a different audience in an effort to appeal to swing voters. Who do you believe? What do you believe?
And I thought I might actually have friends this generation to play with :suicide:
Still not buying it or thinking about buying it, but I appreciate Microsoft trying to fix everything everyone did not like about the Xbox One.
questionable as to where that 100$ is coming from. originally most assumed it's the kinect was responsible for the price disparity but if they're just going to lop that off and the kinect is still required. ether they're selling at a loss to not give sony ANY ground or they were originally intending to over price the thing. desperation or being greedy fucks nether of these is a good sign.
greedy fucks? do you think sony is selling this console because they like games? fuck no, all everyone is trying to do is make money.
What, they think we're just going to forget the crap they spewed befoe?
You've forgotten about sonys past misdeeds, so yes, I really do think you'll be eatting there "crap" next year.
as i've said before good luck to them
Still getting a PS4 since I grew up with Playstation, but this is a nice move from MS.
Microsoft are just in damage control now, no matter what they try it's to late to topple Sony. I'm certain they will still sell a handful of consoles, but Sony will just dominate them come the console's respective release. I've put through 20 Pre-orders for the PS4 at my work, and not one Xbox One.
Pretty neat if it's legit, there might be some decent competition.
holy shit people take off your fucking tinfoil hats jesus christ
we WOULD if corporations stopped fucking us in the ass
Mandatory Kinect
Is this really a big problem? I mean it only adds to the options available in a game, as long as it just stands along side it and is not the main part of it. Right now the Kinect is one of Microsoft's advantages over PS4, while staying at the same price, I don't see a problem at all.
If I was buying a new gen console I'd still probably go for the PS4 simply because of the prestanda and that I trust Sony more than Microsoft after all the reversing/lying Microsoft has done :v:
It would be cool if they did this, but I would still rather go with the guys that didn't want to screw their customers over from the start than the ones that were forced to stop doing it because of public outcry.
That's not really what's going on here.
Its is. Not that it hasn't been spelled out a million fucking times in this thread already, it's a corporations sole purpose to make money. They're only going to make that money if they convince consumers to buy their product. They do that by making their product appealing. Simple as that.
Imagine if your scummy cousin came to town, and stole your smartphone during thanksgiving. The next time you hear he's coming to town, he promises he'll be different and that he won't and he'll be just like the other cousin that you like. Do you really go, "Oh yeah, I totally believe you Bill."?
No smartphone was stolen, though. The backpedalling happened before the Xbone was even close to releasing. If this analogy fits at all, it would be more like "i'm going to steal your smartphone in 3 months." two months later he says "I'm not really going to steal your smartphone" all before thanksiving. On top of that, they know that if they take your smartphone you'll hate them forever and you're their sole means of existance - if you hate them, they'll die.
By the same token, this somewhat rumormilled piece is Microsoft saying "Of COURSE we're the same old loveable Xbox 360 making guys." Who do you believe? What do you believe?
Why can't any of you get this in your head. They need consumers to like them so they buy their products and give them money. It's as simple as that. If they backpedalled again and went super evil again, nobody'll buy the Xbone and they'll lose all their money. There's not some machine at MS where they shove in evil ideas and consumers' resent and it turns into money. How seriously you're taking this is hilarious, by the way. You're wording this like some riled up anti-government protester finally fighting back against the tyrannical dictatorship that has scourged your country. But that's not what it is. It's a fucking video game console that isn't out yet and that you have complete choice over whether to buy it or not.
That's a very big and large assumption to make. Sony hasn't really been known for money-grubbing and being extremely greedy like Microsoft has. I don't understand how, "if they were microsoft, they wud not be different!11!" is even an argument.
Not much of an assumption, this is how it works. If Sony had no competition they wouldn't need to sell the PS4 at such a competitive price. It doesn't matter whether it's Microsoft, Sony, Valve, Nintendo; all for profit companies exist for one sole reason: to make money. A monopoly in the console market would be terrible.
Microsoft are just in damage control now, no matter what they try it's to late to topple Sony. The PS3 was a disaster at release and even for a year or two after that and it's doing fine now.
What, they think we're just going to forget the crap they spewed befoe?
Stupid thing to say. Yes they made mistakes but they reverted them and now you're acting like "THEY MADE MISTAKES EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE FIXED THEY STILL DESERVE NOTHING"
Aka Sony's outlook. [editline]30th July 2013[/editline] If the price drop does happen, odds are the console would be sold at a loss.
AKA how all consumer entertainment companies work. Sony are not some fucking army of white knights riding chariots of gold. They're in the same position as MS. I mean, they're companies there for the sake of entertainment. They can only work if they listen to consumers, otherwise they just die. MS have realized that finally. Be happy about that. And so what if they sell it at a loss. They'll probably make it back up again through the store and other game sales.
You've forgotten about sonys past misdeeds, so yes, I really do think you'll be eatting there "crap" next year.
Hey, remember when Sony silently installed rootkits on computers via audio CDs to restrict their ability to play music? Because apparently nobody else does.

Sure, they're there to make money but there's very little management to pay, no share-holders to please and basically all of their work force are people who love making games. They're so different in their organization, they're not really comparable to any of those. Microsoft has been on a continues backtrack program trying to unfuck everything so that it would look like they didn't want to screw over the general populace, welp to late. It's as if Microsoft went to the national "Don't fuck up" convention, walked out on stage, stabbed themselves in the stomach and fell over dead. All Sony had to do is say "We don't wanna do that shit, that hurts." where as upon saying that, fucking confetti rained down upon them.
Only gave a shit about 360 because of Halo 3 and I'm sure most people did too Still not interested
Only gave a shit about 360 because of Halo 3 and I'm sure most people did too Still not interested
You bought a whole console for one game?
You bought a whole console for one game?
Some people did for The Last of Us, but at least the PS3's cheap these days.
You bought a whole console for one game?
I bought a 360 for halo. Heck I'm playing it right now
Microsoft did a pretty good job of fixing up most of the awful faults, whether they did it for the money or not is irrelevant because at the end of the day when it comes out people are going to spend their money on it, Corporations fuck up majorly some times, however at the least they fixed up these fuck-ups.
You bought a whole console for one game?
I was getting a console either way but Halo was the reason I went with the 360, and it was amazing Halo 4 not so much so fuck em
Lower price does not a good console make.
