It's really stupid to complain about kinect for two reasons: The reason kinect is mandatory is that developers know that every xbox one owner has one and is connected giving them more reason to innovate with it and implement it into their game. If you complain about kinect being able to watch you, you should complain about every person that has a smartphone with a camera.

I'm not sure if this has been confirmed and/or if it will stay true.

No one blocks their smartphone camera when using it, it isn't in the way of your hand. If the NSA can take control of the kinect camera whats stopping them from taking control of your smartphone camera?

Maybe people just don't like having a camera looking at them all day? Maybe people don't like having a microphone listening to them when the console is off?

sony still has more titles im interested in, but... thats not saying much. it's metal gear and it's going to be on the ps3, which i already have. so a lower price still doesn't interest me. can't wait to spend the whole next generation [sp]on my pc and 3ds[/sp]

Maybe you don't point the camera at you all day long, but I know a lot of people that are using their phone 24/7. Microsoft are trying to innovate with kinect by adding features that are not available with other consoles, I don't know whats makes you so entitled to have the console exactly the way you want it, they give you the option to turn off all its functions.
