2030 is two early.
no, you got it wrong too. It's too, not to, or two, but too.
Humanity has the special trait of being able to adapt to survive. Although we don't actually see the need to change right now, when it becomes a serious matter, we will
What you mean we adapt like all living things? you know that the ability to adapt is a prerequisite to begin alive in the eyes of science right? We'll always survive even if it's only a few thousand, we'll survive drifting amongst the stars.
Exactly. People need to get their fingers out of their asses.
I don't think you can have a kid by shoving your fingers up your ass
Theese scientists obviously haven't played Minecraft. We need to go deeper. [editline]18th October 2010[/editline] We're like a damn virus, and we know it. We just cannot control overpopulation, because not enough people care.
From the looks of things, we will consume so much of the earths resources that at some point 2/3 of mankind would die out due to starvation and drought.
And so the next Catastrophic Disaster is born new Ice Age, Then Pollution, Then Global Warming, and now Using up all of earth's Natural Resources by 2030. And to think there's 3/4 of the planet chocked full of resources we haven't even tapped into yet And I'm fairly sure getting those resources from the bottom of the ocean will be easier to do by 2030 than creating a second fucking planet, no?
maybe we maek zombie so ppl will hav to fite to live lol i'm so cool xD

How the fuck did you take that literally man come the fuck on.

Facepunch obviously needs the Sarcmark
We can terraform Mars to be like Earth within a 500 year time span but we'd need a lot of investment into it. Either way, we can just colonize the Oceans, deep Ocean facilities, floating cities, and there's plenty of "unexplored" terrain on Earth.
For those who rated me dumb (which I assume is because I said Mars could be colonized within 500 years), please read this: http://www.affs.org/html/the_quest_to_terraform_mars.html http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~mfogg/zubrin.htm So yes, if we put a lot of economic effort into terraforming it, by setting up an initial base and releasing the right gases that are already within the planet and making factories to produce/filter the remaining, it would be possible to walk on Mars like we do on Earth (without a space suit, with perfectly breathable air) within a 500 year time-span, of course we'd need ships to carry plants over there as they'd play an essential role on the terraforming process, and later we'd need animals.
What you didnt laugh at that?
I honestly didn't, my sense of humour is slowly dying :smithicide: Kill me before it kills me, please.
I honestly didn't, my sense of humour is slowly dying :smithicide: Kill me before it kills me, please.
No you have to stick around and suffer to learn a lesson.
:smith: Damn, in person I'm fine, just cause it's words on a screen I'm having difficulty discerning a tone as off late.

2030? I guess it's time to haul our asses over to Gliese 581 g.
All I wonder is who or what the fuck thought of putting humans on this small of a fucking planet. For any of you who believe in a higher being (I don't), ask yourself why he couldn't of just made earth 2 times bigger if he made it in the first place.... And in 7 DAYS! Comon', what's an extra day, compared to the last few thousand or so years he's been sitting on his ass doing nothing?

We'll probably have asteroid mining by then, and by then mars will be colonized because of asteroid mining, and because of the resources gathered from asteroid mining,we could possibly to some crazy shit to Venus like terraform it or something. We'll also have nanotechnology by then probably,so basically the argument is invalid because we humans learn to adapt, and we are really smart and can avoid having to use a "second earth"
Man i want to live under the ocean. Earth 2 would be cool. But if its mars sign me up.
Man i want to live under the ocean. Earth 2 would be cool. But if its mars sign me up.
just a quick heads up who would like the idea of naming the landing site for the manned mars mission "Eden" or "New Eden" I think it would be rad to name it New Eden
2012 says otherwise, hur hur. But really, nothing I do can change the world.... not unless I take over the world. I really can't see the world changing any time soon to make it a better place for the next generation. :/
You're a dumbass, you really think that the Mayans from thousands of years ago can accurately predict the end of the world? Get out.
It seems if we wanted to stop resource abuse we would need to stop greed or if we can get enough poeple to doop using oil which seems almost as hard to do.
Actually, we need 5ish earths if we keep living this way.
Do you know how much 5 Earths is? Stop comparing us to Jupiter, or stars, it's making you think we are waaaaay smaller than we are now.
I do, that's why I'm going to wait until we colonize other planets to reproduce. :3:
No you just cant get laid, stop making excuses.

We'll probably kill ourselves in some Nuclear holocaust WAY before we need two Earths.
not my problem, I'll be long dead before 2030.
Do you have super cancer or something?
