Anyone find it odd how the background has been photoshopped a bit?
it's likely that there were tourists or the sky was really blown out so they shopped it out to bring more attention to the rock

((no it isn't have you even looked at the rock for 5 seconds you can clearly see all the features show both pictures are of the same side such as the moss and colored splotches))

No, it was aliens.
Clearly whoever did this needs to be crushed by the rock as a form of punishment.
Would've been a much funnier report if the rock had fallen on the them just as it was finished, then they lift the rock up and see the face.
Well in 4000 years it will be part of the exhibit.
"Oh, the pioneers used to ride these babies for miles"

wtf is wrong with you? do you really believe that a living human being should be crushed because s/he painted a fucking rock.
also what is so special about this rock. Every rock is old.
If you were one of the pioneers you would have.
I don't think Wales ever had pioneers, I'm pretty sure people just kinda... drifted into it :v:
Also, do you know who uses the Brecon Beacons a lot? The SAS. Clearly this sort of sophisticated crime could only be carried out by someone with their level of training and expertise.
Well in 4000 years it will be part of the exhibit.
in 4000 years it will have been stripped off by weather 3995 years ago

They should have drawn this face instead.
Whenever something truly historical is defaced, it really doesn't matter. It just adds to that item's history.
We don't want to admit it, but one day our lifestyle will be told about in textbooks.
That's sounds more like a euphemism than an excuse, "oi, tonight I'm goin' to break into the museum with summa me mates and we're gonna add some history to a buncha old rubbish, if ya know what I'm sayin'"

Mid-Wales is the last known frontier, people who live in that vast wilderness are modern day pioneers who look for coal and gold in them there sheep covered hills.
They were able to build a railroad across the US before they were able to build one from South to North.
They could have at least done the face like:

I doubt it's even usable[sp]or drivable[/sp] anymore.
10x more creative than a penis tbh.

It's a landmark. Not just an old rock.
If I pick up a small rock/stone/etc., I know it is most likely just as old as this stone here. But the difference is that this rock stands right up in the middle of nowhere. That stuff usually doesn't happen by itself. Since it's been standing there for about 4000 years, it must have gotten a lot of stories to it. Old myths, etc.
Compare it to someone vandalizing mount Rushmore. No, it doesn't belong to the same time in history, but it has been something big. Something that mattered.
There's so many people that does not understand this.

There IS such thing as ancient massive rivers that deposit rocks all over the landscape. There's hundreds out around Washington state.

It's described as a monolith in the article. That kinda suggests that it might be important.

So basically an ancient rock someone stood on end however many thousands of years ago gets graffiti randomly and the only specific thing we know about it is that it's about as old as Stonehenge.
no they shouldnt have
I guess the vandals did a good thing.
I mean, if they wouldn't have drew a face on the rock, I would have had no idea it even existed.
This is a Rock I would forgive after I find out he is fucking my Girlfriend. They need more rocks like him in this world.
I hope it doesn't get defaced now.
I wonder if thats how the Stonehenge came to be. A couple thousand years ago, some slightly more sophisticated vandals decided to stack some rocks up in a random position and now humanity is scratching its head wondering what purpose they're all for and those guys are probably laughing their asses off, wherever they may be.

Those vandals must have had a heck of a lot of spare time.
I don't get why everyone is getting mad about graffiti on a rock. There are hundreds of rocks of this age, what makes this one so special?
Those vandals must have had a heck of a lot of spare time.
Well what else can you do in the 1st century other than go on crusades and jerk it to people's necks?
