DLC is a horrible idea.
Unless it's free :D
this is like paying half the price to watch half a movie which is completely fucking retarded
Valve seems like one of the only companies that haven't resorted to this shit.
This is obviously gonna backfire on them, they'll make stupid small demos to make people "extend" it, except they won't and assume the full game is crap and not buy it. Yeah, I don't see how this can work in EA's favor.
Paying for screenshots
Please download this driver that disables any known screenshot takers such as fraps and disables the PrintScreen button before proceeding. Also you agree to the TOS by doing so.
Game developers/publishers have gone from "how can we make a good game?" to "how can we make the most money?" It saddens me.
A company making money?!?! How dare they!!
What the extended shit?
What the extended shit?
It's like a demo but a lil bit longer
EA is not charging for demos. EA is releasing content that is "like a long demo" to pitch new ideas to people who buy them, similar to Portal. If they like the idea, then they will make it into a game. It's on the god damn first page, you guys must be blind or something.
So I'm guessing they'll shortern the free demos then? Great, being able to play the new C&C for a massive 10 seconds before it shuts down and wants you to extend the demo
I think I'm completely done with EA now. Not buying any more games from them or any company associated with them. I was already done after the crap with spore... but i thought they could redeem themselves... wow was I wrong.
Agree, but one exception: ME3.
A company making money?!?! How dare they!!
More like: -Let the *cough* fans *cough* pay for the demo. -Let them pay for the game and try to get the DRM server running... someday... -Anyone other ideas how to milk out that cashcow more? -Sell the dried out cashcow.
I will burn of rage like a motherfucking shining star if Mass Effect 3 will be released with their DRM.
I will burn of rage like a motherfucking shining star if Mass Effect 3 will be released with their DRM.
Or rather, Mass Effect 3 Extended Demo Edition. Buy it and get $10 off the full game!
Three Words: Fuck You EA.
Reminds me of when my friend said he was buying GT5 Prologue
Unless it's free :D
Then it's just called an update. Or a patch.
Then it's just called an update. Or a patch.
No, it's a free dlc
Punkbuster
If you don't agree with this, then I hope you never bought GT5: Prologue, BF1943, or any episodic content. Stop jumping to conclusions, this has been going on for years and you guys don't seem to have any problem with it until now.
essentially be a very long game demo, along the lines of 2009's Battlefield 1943.
[editline]06:57AM[/editline]
Valve seems like one of the only companies that haven't resorted to this shit.
HL2: Episode One and Two.
HL2: Episode One and Two.
Right, instead we should have waited for another 6 years for them to get the next "full" game that continues the plot.
EA: Ok guys, we have to find out how to stop warez! EA Guy 1: I know how to stop warez! We get the normal costumers who buy the games to pay MORE! EA: And how would that help? EA guy 1: Well we would earn more money on the stupid retards who's buying the game. EA: Yeah good idea! The world will always have retards! We will earn money FOREVER.
Game developers/publishers have gone from "how can we make a good game?" to "how can we make the most money?" It saddens me.
Valve hasn't though. [img]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/rating/heart.png[/img]
I imagine they are thinking about something like Gran Turismo Prologue.
More companies should adopt the "pay half price to buy the game during development and full price to buy the game after it is complete" way of marketing/funding their games. I know there are alot of practical problems with this, but developers would have to sell their ideas to the gamers for funding instead of having to sell it to idiots who are convinced that "brown-grey spacemarines with quicktime-events, DRM and bloom" are the future of gaming (profitable future of gaming, mind you).
Valve hasn't though. [img]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/rating/heart.png[/img]
Valve makes the most money by making good games
Valve hasn't though. [img]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/rating/heart.png[/img]
*cough*l4d2*cough* Sure it wasn't bad but it could've been much better.
If you pay for the demo you should get some money off on the full thing
EA, what the fuck? You start to get better and then like a fucking drug addict you fall back into old habits.
I really don't get what all the fuss is about. you're all acting like they're selling the regular demos. EA are going to start selling EXTENDED demos, meaning that if you want to play more of the demo you can pay to get some extra stuff in it. Their demos will still be free.
EA's goal here is to make as much money as possible, some people have said that while they will not charge for free demo's, the goal of the exercise is to make money. If you read between the lines, they can just as easily give you less and less free demo's and push their extended demos as much as they like, you still don't have to buy them. The only way this is going to work as a good source of income is if they put in benefits for the game you have paid to play the demo of, which is either going to be more DLC, in-game benefits (more xp for ME3 for example) or money off, even all three.
