This is worse than Russia's 'gay propaganda' law.
This is one state, not an entire country, states are legalizing lgbt marriage faster than ever here.
This is one state, not an entire country, states are legalizing lgbt marriage faster than ever here.
So? It's still worse. Why are you guys dodging this fact. One restricts freedom of speech, the other authorizes state inaction based on your sexual orientation. If someone gay is bleeding to death, the police don't need to help them.

Love how Kansas attempting to pass fucking Jim Crow laws doesn't get into the TV news.
If someone is beating up a gay man, and the police are called.. that police officer can legally refuse to But I did. This law effectively authorizes persecution against gay's. You'll do anything to defend Kansas' image won't you.
You're completely ignoring my point, does this law make it possible for a person to be arrested, charged, and sentenced to jail or fines for being gay? No? Then it does not authorize prosecution for being gay. And just incase you haven't figured this out yet: prosecution != persecution (and in case you don't know this either "!=" means "not equal to"). And yeah, one state, in a country of 50 states (and a few territories), proposing one discriminatory law that's doomed to fail is a heck of a lot better than a massive country making and enforcing laws that criminalize sexual orientation and authorize widespread persecution. And don't strawman me by saying I'm "defending" them, this law is complete bull, I'm just saying that this is a lot better than the anti-gay laws in Russia, and pointing out that you almost never make a post in this section that isn't defending the image of Russia.
I'm just saying that this is a lot better than the anti-gay laws in Russia
How? One restricts freedom of speech and the other allows state inaction. If this law passes, nobody including the state will need to provide any goods or services to gay people.
How?

You will do anything to defend Russia's image won't you? And no, not really, this law doesn't authorize prosecution for being gay, or inhibit freedom of speech in any way, and chances are it'll get struck down at the first court case it's in.

not only that, i don't think i've seen any american politicians or whatever openly support neo-nazi groups that attack & torture gay teens

Russias also kind of a shithole where gay people get lynched, too.

You're completely ignoring my point, does this law make it possible for a person to be arrested, charged, and sentenced to jail or fines for being gay?
How?
Do you see the US handing out anti-gay propaganda and censoring any sort of news related to the systematic cultural persecution of gays in its country?
I'm just saying that this is a lot better than the anti-gay laws in Russia,
It's not "a lot better". It's "not as bad". There can be no "better" when we're talking about discrimination.
If you're going to insist on arguing with us, at least actually read our arguments.
Are you implying gay people have not been lynched in the United States?
Fuck off ya piece of shit state. I'm pissed and I can tell this law shouldn't be a thing. Federal and state core will rip this law a new asshole before it even fully hurts the people it tries to stop. If not, we'll ream it a new asshole because the US needs to be equal.
Do you see the US handing out anti-gay propaganda and censoring any sort of news related to the systematic cultural persecution of gays in its country?
I'm not comparing scale I'm comparing the law's wording.
Are you implying gay people have not been lynched in the United States?
dude are you really going there?
Are you implying gay people have not been lynched in the United States?
I'm stating it ain't government sanctioned.
I'm not comparing scale I'm comparing the law's wording.
Comparing the civil rights issue in the US to the civil rights issue in Russia like comparing a Norwegian prison to a Gulag.
dude are you really going there?
I'm not the one who brought us there now am I. I never approached the subject of gay lynchings until another user did. [editline]15th February 2014[/editline]
I'm stating it ain't state sanctioned.
It's not in Russia either. But under this law, police could refuse to help a gay man being lynched in Kansas.
I'm not the one who brought us there now am I. I never approached the subject of gay lynchings until another user did.
The topic doesn't offend me you tool. I'm just saying are you really trying to compare the one or two lynchings in rural backwaters to neonazi's killing gay people in the streets.
The topic doesn't offend me you tool. I'm just saying are you really trying to compare the one or two lynchings in rural backwaters to neonazi's killing gay people in the streets.
You're straw manning my argument. He said gay people get lynched in Russia, then I said gay people have been lynched in the U.S.
He said gay people get lynched in Russia, then I said gay people have been lynched in the U.S.
wtf kind of argument is this?
wtf kind of argument is this?
A good argument. Gay lynchings are not mutually exclusive to either country.
