💪 ooo this is gonna be good can't wait 👌👀👌
Let me guess, it will be Toy Story but with emoticons instead.
Emoji are supposed to represent emotions, right? Disney already came up with Inside Out. We don't need this, Sony.
😑👎
I hope the reviews are done in emoji too
👌👀👌👀👌👀👌👀👌👀 good shit go౦ԁ sHit👌 thats ✔ some good👌👌shit right👌👌th 👌 ere👌👌👌 right✔there ✔✔if i do ƽaү so my self 💯 i say so 💯 thats what im talking about right there right there (chorus: ʳᶦᵍʰᵗ ᵗʰᵉʳᵉ) mMMMMᎷМ💯 👌👌 👌НO0ОଠOOOOOОଠଠOoooᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒ👌 👌👌 👌 💯 👌 👀 👀 👀 👌👌Good shit
Man the movie industry has really reached its low point hasn't it. I mean, a Minecraft movie, a Emoji movie, and a Warcraft movie. Any of the three could be good but all of the three are very obvious pandering to a specific crowd. And I know, people will hate me for saying Warcraft is pandering but seriously, do you think anyone but nerds will actually see it? Do you think anyone above the age of 14 will go see Minecraft? Hollywood has boiled down to finding and exploiting every possible niche with no creative substance.
What isn't getting a fucking movie these days holy shit
Cowboy Bebop Live Action movie with Keanu Reeves.. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1267295/
What are emojis and what separates them from emoticons? When did they become a thing? I feel old.
Despite all this I can't help but to feel somewhat excited that the bar is lowered for movie ideas entering Hollywood. It could mean more original ideas from more places and people that don't have those rich connections. "Pixels" started as a french guy's short film. Maybe really creative short films or animations could be brought to the mainstream easier than they could 10 years ago. Heck, maybe we'll see films or shows based on webcomics someday.
What are emojis and what separates them from emoticons? When did they become a thing? I feel old.
Emoji originated in Japan. Literally translates to "character picture," translates to "pictograph." They've been around since the late 90s in Japan, but only got big after iPhone users saw these Japanese emotes and wanted them - so they made apps to let you use Emoji and Apple eventually incorporated Emoji into their software. Unicode made it a standard, and now most phones (and now modern OSes like Windows 8.1 and up) incorporate Emoji. Emoji are a type of emoticon, but different in tons of ways. Emoticons are usually pictures or faces made out of text (like :D or :P), while Emoji are pictures turned into text form. Emoticons are specifically faces. Emoji, not necessarily - you can have dolphins and whales and cars and whatever the fuck else you want. There's no "emotional" component to the word - emoji can be anything at all. It boils down to how Emoji work - they're actual official Unicode text. They're treated the same way Chinese or Japanese language characters are treated - which means "font" of Emoji are unspecified and are up to the software to decide. That's why you have different Emoji for Google, Apple, Twitter, Microsoft, etc. Basically, instead of the software reading two colons on either side of a v and turning it into :v:, it reads a single letter of "text" dedicated to specific iconography (like a dolphin), and points it to an icon of a dolphin specifically developed to fill that text. But really there's not much of a difference in practicality, just technical differences.
I fucking hate emojis. I wish there was some browser extension or something to hide them. Although that wouldn't do much good because I mostly just see them on twitter anyway and I don't use web twitter. Fuck the crying/laughing faces, fuck that red 100, fuck that hand sign, fuck "smh", fuck "fam", fuck "tbh", fuck "da squad", fuck those people on twitter who think a good reaction to something is a bunch of the same emojis spammed across 3 lines of text, fuck all of that shit. And now they're celebrating it? I'm bitter as fuck. [editline]21st July 2015[/editline] What next? A movie about reaction images and greentexting? We already have had a couple about hashtags IIRC.
thumbnail spoils it but whatever
What next? A movie about reaction images and greentexting? We already have had a couple about hashtags IIRC.
Reaction images at least take creativity in finding the correct one amongst your library of those. Everyone just uses the same emojis.
a movie about my asshole would be more interesting than a movie about emojis

Well it's not a remake
the only time I found emojis to look cool
I get the feeling that this movie will be stuck in the film industry's equivalent of development help.
What ISN'T sony making a movie of these days?
Good movies
Windows Live Messenger & Skype emoticons > emoji Like hell, why the fuck does the Unicode Consortium waste their time with this shit?
Waiting for the sequel. Emoji vs Rageface.
it seems like the movie is causing some emotes
These companies must have a machine where you type in a pop-culture thing and it spits out box office statistics.
I want to see an ASCII movie then

I didn't notice these things until they started cropping up in chat as I was playing clash of clans (admittedly), wondering what the fuck an 'emoji' was and how far removed from Internet culture I became. Terrifying experience. I can see me now: 'back in my day we made faces and shit with letters..' Oh well, at least we still have ಠ_ಠ and o/ (totally a hitler salute)
I don't see any format where a movie based totally on Emojis would ever work. How the hell would that even play out?
