NOPE NOPE NOPE
haha its funny because i heard someone say java sucks so i'm gonna make a funny joke about how java sucks lol!!
Huh, good thing I switched from uTorrent to Transmission last week. I can't say I've tried its Windows port before though.
They just need to make an ad-free paid version of uTorrent, so we can torrent it.
Isn't there an actual case of something like this happening?
The only reason I bother with µTorrent these days is because it's the only client that actually gets connections to seeds/peers for some reason. At least on my end.
Who cares if you see ad's, its not like they are forcing you to pay money or something. Its like anything with ads is immediately going to be thought as, as shit.
The Pirate Bay has been hosting ads on its front page for over a year now and nobody has fucking cared in that timespan. uTorrent starts to host ads and you all flip your shit. Wow Facepunch, just wow.

Wow Facepunch, just wow.
In fairness, µTorrent had been on it's way to the shitter since approx. 3.0
thats what you scrubs get for not using limewire
please be joking
no man limewire is the shit who woulda knew that you can get free music on a free service thats totally rad and i dont even get viruses!
alright phew you had me ready to go berserk for a second there
forgive me for not being a torrent aficionado but apart from stuff like ads and other functions, what's the difference between all the torrent programs do some download faster?
Apparently, some do download faster, and there are also factors like security, size, bloating, mobility and obviously features.
In a few weeks we are going to release a new version of µTorrent
lol I haven't updated mine in 2 years and it's a good thing since they screwed up the last 10 updates.
solution: never update µTorrent
I've never updated since like, 2010. It's not that hard, people. :v:
Apparently, some do download faster, and there are also factors like security, size, bloating, mobility and obviously features.
you've been talking to a bullshitter haven't you?
Cool a program has ads Why is this news, half of you here who use utorrent aren't even keeping up with the updates, and those who do probably don't care
Well, time to find a new torrent client. edit: Any recommendations?
If you're on a Mac then I recommend Transmission. I have no idea what to switch to on my PC either. [editline]12th August 2012[/editline]
I've never updated since like, 2010. It's not that hard, people. :v:
Though I'll probably switch to never updating it again.
Believe it or not they're already raking in alot of cash with the people that install the "utorrent toolbar"
who the hell cares, most of the time it is minimized anyway.
I've always used deluge for downloading uhh.. linux distros.
Still on 2.2. I will never update it now for sure.
uTorrent is bought out by BitTorrent-s company. Didn't bittorrent have a deal with the anti-piracy bullshit thingies? So the new uTorrent clients can send out messages to them or what shitnot they had? I might be wrong, but I remember some news like that recently. And that it made my (Paranoid-ish) friend change from uTorrent to QBit.
solution: never update µTorrent
I had the same version for maybe a year until I updated it manually to v.3 :v:
Still on 2.2. I will never update it now for sure.
Somehow I'm stuck on 1.6.5 :v:
Somehow I'm stuck on 1.6.5 :v:
that's a good thing, pal. [editline]12th August 2012[/editline] please don't listen to others about "faster/more secure". It's about WHO and WHAT you're sending/receiving.
http://www.oldversion.com/download-uTorrent-2.2.1.25302.html Best version.
I'm on the latest version but unlikely to update when the ads roll out unless the other benefits of updating outweigh the annoyance of ads. Been using it for years and haven't really had any complaints with it, sure the UI changes every so often but you get used to it.
Well time to switch to another client, it's already pretty fucked up as it is with malware in the installer which you have to take care not to install.
Maintaining the client and its website, support forums, etc costs money.
That's no excuse for filling the program with shit, there are plenty of other ways to make money such as adverts on the website and a donate button, this is just going to cause a lot of people to use another client or stick with an old version which ultimately means less money for them.
2.2 master race
I switched from BitTorrent to uTorrent a few weeks ago, honestly I don't even see the difference, plus ads on a free service is totally expectable and I don't mind it.
I doubt they're having much trouble maintaining utorrent, they just want more dosh. If there was a problem they could simply open source it, then utorrent could maintain itself. uTorrent was the best client but after it got bought by bittorrent or whatever it started to slowly get shittier. The inclusion of "premium" utorrent was a terrible idea but I could stand that as it had no visual impact. Ads on the other hand is something I don't like. I can avoid ads on the web with adblock, but not here. I guess I'll just keep using an older version. uTorrent is not a service by the way. It's an application. After I download it I have nothing to do with utorrent company, unless I buy their premium. Otherwise no.
Not going to update, ever.
