The Pirate Bay has been hosting ads on its front page for over a year now and nobody has fucking cared in that timespan. uTorrent starts to host ads and you all flip your shit. Wow Facepunch, just wow.
There's a huge fucking difference between the two, and you know that.
So basically just use the official Bittorrent client instead?
And that would be...?
haha its funny because i heard someone say java sucks so i'm gonna make a funny joke about how java sucks lol!!
But Java does suck.
So basically just use the official Bittorrent client instead?
So you can get your ads surrounded by purple instead of green?
But Java does suck.
Another person on the Java sucks bandwagon, Java is pretty fast these days.
Since the day I downloaded µtorrent I have never updated it if they are just going to fuck with the layout and add bullshit then I will continue to not update I wish it was that easy when Google ate the retard pills and changed the youtube layout
Yea, Utorrent generally fixes bugs, adds features, and fixes security vulnerabilities they find in the program. It isn't just like they stick a new number onto the name periodically, they actually maintain their software.
Yeah but they started adding so much crap and bloat to it after version ~2. It completely goes against the whole point of µTorrent as "a (very) tiny BitTorrent client". That and the newer interface is the reason I stick to an old version. [editline]12th August 2012[/editline]
And that would be...?
uTorrent I think. Or a slightly modified version of it, BitTorrent purchased uTorrent to use it as the offical client. It seems to coincide with it becoming bad.
Sometimes I wish I could program. But then again, making a torrent client is probably one hell of a task.

Time to install rtorrent on my local arch linux virtual machine it seems Honestly no client compares once you start needing to seed over 500 torrents. It's like the nginx of torrent clients.
Haven't updated since 2010 :v:
Block the advertising firms servers with your HOSTS file.
Wouldn't that leave a nasty empty block of space where ad once was?
Still using version 2.2, looks like i'm going to use it forever.
But Java does suck.
ye i guess all those software engineers and massive companies using java are just idiots clearly a facepuncher named "chubbs" knows better than an entire industry
ye i guess all those software engineers and massive companies using java are just idiots clearly a facepuncher named "chubbs" knows better than an entire industry
Clearly you care too much about what "chubbs" says.
uTorrent has been shit for a while now, I've been sticking with 2.0.4 and it works perfectly fine.
to transmission!
Oh no, ads. Everyone freaks the fuck out at the sight of ads even though it's helping keep something free.
I got a premium key from Torrentfreak a while back. I honestly don't see how anyone would pay for this.
I guarantee this is the start of something much bigger, they're starting small by adding a little "featured torrent", but then this opens the possibility to adding a little bit more annoyance, and more, etc. in other words make sure they know about how irritated you all are before they think it's OK to start slowly cramming more rubbish in "lightweight client" now my ass
Oh no, ads. Everyone freaks the fuck out at the sight of ads even though it's helping keep something free.
No one would pay for uTorrent. uTorrent is NOT a service, it does not need the money they pretend it does. There's tons of open source software that's doing just fine, why is uTorrent an exception? Oh right, because they're trying to commercialize it from it's popularity and get some quick money. Stop pretending like this money is keeping the poor hobo developers fed. If uTorrent really was in such financial problems they could say so and ask for donations. Or even better, open source it. But it being open source would prevent them from putting bullshit like subscriptions or ads into the app. It makes sense for a service that offers music or something else for free to have ads. uTorrent does not offer a service, it offers a tool. I don't like when my tools have adverts inside them. After uTorrent got bought, it has been turning to shit and getting bloated more and more. It's agenda was to keep small and powerful, now it's like a fat kid with infinite supply of candy. It keeps on growing in all the wrong places. The newer version even asks you to star rate torrents you remove, I mean WHAT? Why is that bullshit even there. It's an application to connect to peers from a torrent file, it's not a social media application. Get real, I don't want to rate a shitty camrip I'm deleting. The UI is slowly getting more and more junk too. Buttons and menus that are not needed and cannot be hidden. And it will only get worse in the future unless they get their shit straight. I don't want a fucking media center with support for torrent files, I want my lite torrent application.
So are people unaware that they can use previous versions? That's what I've been doing for the past while, gotta find it again though due to a new install.
http://www.oldapps.com/utorrent.php
Thanks bro that's the exact place I got it off last time, really appreciate it. [del]Can't remember what build it was though...[/del] Was 2.2.1, stumbled across a post I made like 20 weeks ago on another forum about it.
I'll stick with Deluge thank you very much, the fear mongering that /g/ has been doing of uTorrent "teaming up" with the MPAA made me switch to Deluge, and even if that isn't true Deluge has served me better than uTorrent ever has.
I wanna try this, could you post some screenshots of the UI?
ye i guess all those software engineers and massive companies using java are just idiots clearly a facepuncher named "chubbs" knows better than an entire industry
The only forté Java has is that it's easy to code a multi platform app/program. That's it.
