I've been thinking of Deluge, how well does it perform?
Better than uTorrent in my opinion, the only thing that it doesn't have that uTorrent has is statistics like a graph and how much GB you've downloaded/seeder, but there even is a plugin for Deluge that adds all of that.
The only forté Java has is that it's easy to code a multi platform app/program. That's it.
thanks for the info i now see the light fuck java it sucks i hate easy multi-platform languages
thanks for the info i now see the light fuck java it sucks i hate easy multi-platform languages
Being an easy multi-platform language does not make it any better in the regards of speed. Since it's a VM it's actually worse.
Holy shit talk about self-entitlement.
did you seriously expect something different
But Java does suck.
i bet you play Minecraft
Seeing as the client is free I don't see why they don't deserve some money from their work. As long as the ads don't noticeable slow down the program or if they aren't intrusive (look at this ad for 30 seconds and then get back to what you were doing) then I don't see the problem seeing as you set up the torrent and close the window.
i bet you play Minecraft
Minecraft it just the best example, because of it's popularity AND how resource intensive it is compared to the game mechanisms. C++ and OpenGL would've been a better idea, but requires more effort when coding. Java is easy BUT sloppy.
Java is easy BUT sloppy.
Not really. Java is a sloppy as your code makes it. for the last few years it's been getting steady improvements to the Java base classes, and the JVM. I believe I've seen a few comparisons between java and c++, and there are a few circumstances where Java was a few ms faster (and it was only a few). Which could be anomalous readings. But either way, they can perform pretty similarly now, as long as your application isn't coded like a high school love confession. Minecraft runs like shit because it's coded like shit. Not because of java. The C++/ C# "remakes" of it run better largely due to better coding and handling of resources.

The best example of how Java runs would be Android - pretty much everything about it except for the kernel is written in Java, and it runs pretty damn well.
Deluge is actually pretty cool
Deluge is actually pretty cool
And it's open source.
No idea why but I just prefer Deluge over everything else.
No idea why but I just prefer Deluge over everything else.
I didn't know about it's existence before but it's actually damn good. I would've used it long ago if I knew about it.
I didn't know about it's existence before but it's actually damn good. I would've used it long ago if I knew about it.
I'd only ever seen it before in this screenshot

[sp]There is no connection. Bottom right. No bars and X icon. And if its wired connection then it would have like a wire. Not an X still. Last I checked you couldn't torrent with no internet connection.[/sp] I could be wrong though. I am not a computer expert.
glad I dont µGoToJail

My wireless is like that too even if I'm connected to wire. I usually disable wireless card so it doesn't show that, it's annoying.

uTorrent will be raided by the US government and crushed by MAFIAA lawsuits for making money by facilitating piracy. This is the beginning of the end.
uTorrent will be raided by the US government and crushed by MAFIAA lawsuits for making money by facilitating piracy. This is the beginning of the end.
Isn't it owned by MPAA or something?
uTorrent will be raided by the US government and crushed by MAFIAA lawsuits for making money by facilitating piracy. This is the beginning of the end.
wat they are not facilitating ANY piracy. If you are talking about them creating ads for torrent on games/music/software then that is most likely stuff that is freeware. They would never ever shoot themselves in the foot like that so horribly

Look how flimsy the case against Megaupload is, but that didn't stop the commando raids.
Megaupload was also involved in some other shady shit.
No real proof was presented.
Get enough people to make a bot to spam click the ads. Invalidate ad contract.
plus ads on a free service is totally expectable and I don't mind it.
No it fucking isn't. There are hundreds of other clients, and none of them have ads.
sticking with uTorrent because these guys have been making a fantastic product for free for a long time, they deserve something back from me. [editline]13th August 2012[/editline]
Megaupload was also involved in some other shady shit.
the only reason they went after megaupload was because some of its users did shady shit, it's not Kim's fault that someone decided to upload a fuckton of copyrighted porn ft. emma watson or whatever
it's not Kim's fault that someone decided to upload a fuckton of copyrighted porn ft. emma watson or whatever
But it is his fault for not dealing with that. Like any good file host is meant to. He just let the files sit there, and made money off the users who uploaded them through the affilates system MU had. therefore, he was fucked from the start. uTorrent on the other hand does not host a single pirated file, it doesn't even provide them. The only thing it does is interact with the BitTorrent protocol, the sites that get in trouble for this are the ones providing the .torrent files, and even then that's if the government abuse their power a bit. If it was an ideal world for copyright enforcers, every single user seeding would get fined/ jailed instead, because they are the ones committing the offence by sharing copyrighted material, not uTorrent, not TPB.
hahahahaha guys guys on the uTorrent Wikipedia page look its "License" come on really just look at it okay fine here
So they introduce ads and you people proclaim that the whole software has "gone to shit", dramatic more? They give us free to use software, just think of it as a way of giving something back to them.
