E-cigarettes to fall under Queensland tobacco laws

Fucking cant stand people who vape, was in the hospital today, some wankers were vaping in the hospital, the audacity of some people. If you need your tobacco fix just go outside, its not that difficult to just walk out the doors and then come back in again.
We've spent the past four decades getting people to stop smoking, while vaping is safer we still shouldn't be encouraging anyone who isn't already a smoker to pick up the habit.
Its like the chip+pin thing with credit cards, we spend all that time converting our payment terminals, then switch over to a non-secure NFC system.

Yea everyone should just switch back to smoking cigarettes, we atleast know what's in that

Because I wanted e-cigs banned, yeah no. Great way to miss my point. They should go outside if they want to smoke their e-cigs and as long as they do that it's 100% fine by me, it doesnt affect me and everythings fine.
Fuck every dickhead that tries annoying conventional smokers having e-cigs inside
don't see anything wrong with this
It's actually pretty fucking stupid.
Not sure how it's implemented in other countries but basically, if you go over to the desk and you ask "can I see what cigarettes you got, please" with the intention of buying obv., even if no one else is present like kids, then the clerks are all like "Uhh no I can't do that sorry it's muh rules, you have to like tell me what you want." and I'm like "seriously?"
I actually agree with them. Smoking area, yes. No selling to minors, yes. No advertising them like toys, yes.
They're still being used to imbibe an addictive substance, and I really don't want the restaurant I'm in filled with a vape fog.
Alcohol and caffeine are both also addictive and legal. Alcohol is also much worse for you than nicotine.
Even if they're not the same as real cigarettes, it doesn't make it any less annoying to people.
What dramatic bullshit!
You do not have the right to be no less annoyed by e-cigarettes than regular cigarettes. One fills the room with rather noxious smoke that leaves residual smells, ashes, butts everywhere. The other doesn't and usually just leaves an, idk, cookie or strawberry or whatever smell that goes the fuck away.
It's possible to use an e-cigarette in an asshole manner, but 99% of the time people should be able to get the fuck over it

Where I live some places you can't even smoke outside, like outside hospitals or downtown even. Not defending those guys but some of the rules are kind of ridiculous.
With that said I still follow the normal smoking rules it doesn't bother me. Maybe because I am just used to it.
My only experience around these was a twat at a local LAN smoking it next to me. It smelt awful and he just blew his nasty breath everywhere. I hope a US law does something like this with them.
I don't blow my addictions in your face, don't do it in mine.

Oh yeah, the health of others is ridiculous.
As an Asthma sufferer, I absolutely hate any sort of smoker, even the vapors mess with me.

Yeah well alcohol is regulated, while e-cigarettes are currently not regulated here in parts of Australia so what's your point?
Grrr, ban thing that I don't like/have done no research on, because it looks stupid.
If you read even the first sentence of the article in the OP, you'd realise that they are being regulated rather than banned. Some people here, honestly.
Why do people even use e-cigarettes if it's not a faze before quitting ? It's like instead eating a pizza you eat a pizza flavored chips. Use the real thing or just quit.

Because steam doesn't do nearly as much damage as smoke does.

But isn't there nicotine in those too ?
But isn't there nicotine in those too ?
yes, but there's not any of the other super harmful chemicals in cigarettes.
But isn't there nicotine in those too ?
I don't think all of the flavours have nicotine in them, only some.
One of my friend's sees it as a pretty big hobby of his (He never smoked beforehand) and only one of them actually says it has nicotine in it, the rest apparently don't.
Move to Bowen hills with me bby, we can watch people shoot up heroin every under the moonlight together
I'll take you up on that other. I've got nothing better to do when I'm not at school.

because cigarettes are really bad for you because of the mass of chemical additives that ecigs don't have and getting into them just because its more "Real" is a very stupid thing to do
this is like complaining about adderal... just do meth! man! do the real thing or don't do it at all! only much more silly.
But isn't there nicotine in those too ?
Not all of them.
Some people just like the taste.
Not all of them.

This, and the oral sensation/ feeling of "smoking". It works well for people trying to ween off of nicotine by focusing on the actual smoking and not the chemicals they are addicted to.
But isn't there nicotine in those too ?
Nicotine is in some e-cigarettes, but some people just use it for the cool tasty drug-free smoke.
Please note that nicotine by itself is actually not all that harmful - it's extremely addictive but not harmful. What causes cancer and everything with regular cigarettes is that you're inhaling actual smoke, burned tar, etc
Thanks to this thread I just invested in a decent E-Cig to quit smoking with. Thanks guys.
I honestly don't understand a ban/"regulation" on smoking e-cigs indoors.
It's not smoke, it's vapor. The vapor dissipates within seconds, unless you are in a car with the vents off and the windows up. Almost any air current will make the cloud disappear. And if your using a small disposable one like you get at a gas station, there is very little vapor in the first place.
It's annoying how everyone sees the cigarette in E-cigarette and they assume they are similar in any way.
But isn't there nicotine in those too ?
Nicotine isn't what makes second hand smoke (relatively) dangerous, it's the carcinogens and chemicals that come from tobacco smoke, cigarettes in particular. Nicotine, besides being amongst the most addictive drugs known to man and somewhat bad for your heart in the long run, is basically harmless in its pure form when vaporized.
The amount that is in ecig vapor after it's been filtered through someone's lungs is minuscule. You would more than likely have to be practically mouth-to-mouth with someone, inhaling the vapor directly from their lungs, and even then I'd be surprised if you got an active dose. The only other ingredients in the vapor are propylene glycol, vegetable glycerine and sometimes water, all of which are food grade and completely non-toxic.
There is absolutely no reason ecigs should be subjected to the same limitations on where one can and cannot smoke as tobacco. Tobacco smoke is legitimately toxic, while second-hand ecig vapor is only toxic to whiny assholes. The only "legitimate" reason I've seen anyone come up with to support idiotic laws such as this one is that it's "annoying", it's "irritating" or it's "gross", and these people frankly make me sick that they can be so full of themselves as to undermine a tool that has helped countless people give up a dangerous habit and many more move on to a safer habit, and does nothing to harm or inconvenience anyone in the vicinity of an ecig user, solely because they feel the need to flaunt their bullshit, holier-than-thou attitude.
End rant.
EDIT: It completely escaped my mind while posting this that many asthmatics are legitimately irritated by the vapor of ecigs. I know a few asthmatics, some aren't bothered by it, some are, and I definitely don't mean to call anyone with asthma who is legitimately harmed by ecig vapor a whiny asshole with a holier-than-thou attitude. However, I don't believe that it's a fair reason to support a bill like this. The amount of people that ecigs can potentially save from lung cancer and other smoking-related disease, in my opinion outweighs the inconvenience of having to politely ask someone to vape somewhere else or to avoid people who are vaping due to asthma.
To the people saying they encourage non-smokers to take up the habit: There's actually research that illustrates that just isn't true.

Someone honestly has to be a raging anti-smoking zealot (or completely ignorant) to treat e-cigs the same as cigarettes. I know more people who quit smoking by using e-cigs than any other method available.
This is stupid and a fucking pointless law. I'm an analogue smoker, and i'd most likely switch if i could. This isn't helping people to decide to make the switch at all. Nicotine containing e-cig juice is actually illegal in Australia for some dumb fucking reason. Queensland government is pants on head retarded. It is a harmless, nice smelling vapour that gets people off the durries.
