Asked friend of mine who said that last bit is most likely from HL2. All NPCs have a squad field assigned to them. The quest_citizen bit might just be a pun, meaning "the citizen that initiates the next bit of the story".
Only thing that was really new was the vortex turret, apaprently.

Well, Source 2 probably started out as a base for HL3. Now that Dota 2 is being upgraded with Source 2 and we haven't seen anything of HL3, it should just further confirm that the project is still in limbo.
If you ever want to think about something off just remember we live in the reality where duke nukem forever got released but half life 3 is still a pipe dream

Uh no? Source 1 was [B]really[/B] outdated and brought a lot of limitations to Dota 2 (mostly implementing custom games, a feature the community really always wanted). The reason it's the first title to adopt it is because it has the biggest fanbase. The next game to see the transition is CSGO.

CS:GO will [I]probably[/I] be ported at some point, but I think we'll see another Valve title before that, moving CS:GO will be difficult because all of the custom maps, and I don't think the community will want to transition back to mostly stock maps.

You'd think a file like that would be a .dll or .cfg, though, that data of this type wouldn't be in a simple .txt file.

It's not that they'd have to move the maps, it's that the competitive scene would be trashed as all mechanics and gameplay would have to readjusted and relearned by players. I highly doubt they'd transition the engine but probably upgrade the engine CS:GO uses graphically.

probably not. valve has a reputation for making good games. according to metacritic (take it as you will), not including ricochet and half life dlc all their games have never fallen below a score of 80. valve knows how much hype is behind hl3, so they will polish it (like i said before) until their hands are sore. if they fuck it up the community will take a huge shit on valve's reputation. if valve feels a bit rusty at making games, they might make a new game that is not half life 3 to try to learn what they forgot.
