one was to prevent state legislators from raising their pay and benefiting from it in the same term while resetting their income to the median household income in the state (yes)
This needs to be in effect on the national level.
Who's winning?!?!?!??
Also one was for State Supreme Court Chief Justice, and Roy Moore was one of the candidates and I'd vote for almost anyone before I'd vote for him. If you don't know who Roy Moore is, look him up and be amazed (read: horrified).
oh god
Who's winning?!?!?!??
We don't know yet it's really fucking early.
Who's winning?!?!?!??
No one, don't ask anything like this until at least 7PM EST. The votes are not being counted right now.
Who's winning?!?!?!??
Not us that's for sure!
Not us that's for sure!
The American people rarely win; they only lose less.
Who's winning?!?!?!??
You. You are the real winner, son.
this is such a perfect romney-supporter post lol destroying the country so rich people don't have to pay their taxes and using the old "he had 4 years" line as if that in any way justifies just letting a madman loose in the white house to do what he wants for the next 4. at least with obama, at the VERY least you can count on stability, but people saying "he had his chance, lets give romney a shot" are unbelievable
Neither candidate will destroy the country. I don't want stability, I want some real change. Not taxing the shit out of business allows them to hire more people and create more jobs. If there is less money you can make because of half of it going to taxes, then you wouldn't work as hard because you won't get as much money.
After reading this I can honestly say I'm glad you're 17.
I'm for democracy, I want every knowledge person to vote, not just people on my side. i'm sorry to see you don't want a good democracy where everyone knowledgeable voted.
On the amendments here in Virginia, it only showed two. One was "Should the limit on a decision of the House of Representatives be a maximum of one week?" Spammed yes... Time to get shit done.
He's a Republican who has to pander to moderates, a rabid conservative base, and was governor in a relatively liberal state. You have to be a fucking chameleon to do accomplish these things.
Chameleon? Huh, sorta reminds me of those reptil- oh no

Time to get shit done.
Wouldn't that imply that your representatives could just stall a decision for a week to effectively remove it from being decided upon? Seems like a filibuster mechanism to me. But I don't know the specifics of the amendment, so I could be wrong.

I went to early voting on Friday. The running Republican senator was there trying to get votes and some Democrat handed me this flier (pardon the shitty camera): [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/VrHwj.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/nHcQr.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/lLak5.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/vQyNo.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/sBrF1.jpg[/img_thumb] Which is getting me to wonder how legal this was.
trickle down doesn't work, no matter how much you want it to.
That isn't trickle down and he's right. In a market economy business taxes should be significantly lower, especially in a recession. Higher taxes on businesses and corporations translate to higher prices for goods and services.
people who earn more already pay more in taxes, do you suck at math or something?? if person X earns 1000 dollars and person Y earns 100 dollars and the goverment takes away 50% of their income person X ends up paying 10x the amount of dollars compared to person Y. I'm against higher taxes for the rich & i'm not even rich myself, i'm even jobless at the moment. don't forget rich people even create jobs by purchasing expensive shit such yachts, cars, mansions.
75% of that money goes to the corporation, bank or another person. 25% might be taxes, or wages for people who built the item, Even less goes to the state. One benefit of higher taxes? It reduces inflation. Most of that money that goes to the government will be used for items, or stays within the federal bank. That keeps it from the economy, The economy adjusts, then lowers the prices of items, Bam. you've just lowered inflation.
Electioneering is an awesome word.

You use high taxes to control inflation during periods of high growth.
The general lack of understanding of basic economics and ignorance/patronizing tone in this post is revolting.
Agreed. Gav, you can't call yourself knowledge (:v:) simply because you want knowledge. You need life experience, research, and a heavy dose of reality before you can really say what is going on in this country. It seems as if you are simply parroting your parents' rhetoric.
I can leave part of the ballot blank if I don't feel informed enough for that specific contest, right?
-snip-
*snip*
nobody really knows what the fuck is up with this country's economy/spending
Obongo 2012 let's do this
For what it's worth: There's nothing technically wrong with having a decent rate of inflation if incomes are increasing appropriately. This has happened in quite a few developing countries in central/western asia in the past couple of decades as they rapidly industrialized.

This is a poll that Maplestory ran for a few weeks. Granted the age group was like 10-16 it may not be accurate, but...
