Expected Nevermind, disappointed now
I always preferred Ride the Lightning. I mean, that's got For Whom The Bell Tolls (my favorite Metallica intro after Disposable Heroes), Creeping Death, the title track and Trapped Under Ice (my third favorite intro).
don't forget call of ktulu, one of the best instrumentals of all time
Metallica, fuck yeah. Honestly, though, their new stuff is just... eugh. Even The Black Album had some weak parts - a lot of the songs were kind of dumb. Fun, but dumb. Then Load/Reload. There was maybe one album of good songs between the two, and most of them would have been better as a side project than as Metallica. Most bands evolve their style over time, sure, but when you call yourself Metallica it implies you're playing, y'know, metal. S&M is awesome, and anyone who disagrees can go fuck themselves with a rusty halberd. But it was awesome because it was old Metallica songs getting a new twist (with orchestration by someone who actually knows symphonic music, not a metalhead who thinks writing for three instruments is "complex"). St. Anger was a pile of garbage, there's maybe two songs on there that can be salvaged but even then they won't be good Metallica songs. Death Magnetic is good but uninspired. It was like Metallica knew they sucked, and tried to copy all their old shit but didn't really have any heart left in it other than getting another solid gold jacuzzi. Also whoever mixed that album needs to be shot - grab the Guitar Hero 3 remaster, somehow even those clowns were able to mix a much better album. LULU NEVER FUCKING HAPPENED, ALRIGHT? IT NEVER HAPPENED, IT DOES NOT EXIST.
Don't forget Garage Inc back in 98, that shit was a fucking gem!
Eh they were better back in the days. Kirk just plays the same solos all over again, Lars had terrible timing on his drumming and every song has the same drumming over and over again, Lars double bass is horrible, most of the time he misses doing them and plays both double bass drums at the same time. James is like the only one that hasn't gone completely Shit, unfortunately his voice is clean all the time now and no Good old thrash voice from 80s. Always thought they were overrated but they put on a great show in Stockholm.

I'm really fucking glad with that. Metallica have been getting more and more stagnant over the years, but even their bad shit is still good when compared to some other bands. I really like how they seem to be rolling with the idea of just playing their greatest hits live now instead of forcing the shit that people don't like into the set lists.
Metallica is a pretty alright band.
that'd be because we're not forced to purchase albums anymore thanks to the rise of the internet, where people can either buy individual songs, steal them wantonly, or listen to them on youtube
I thought you meant the Jay-Z album. [editline]31st May 2014[/editline]
much better album... it's not even Metallica's best, it a mediocre pop metal album.
Oh right I just realized this is the Sandman album, fucking casuals
Oddly enough, one of my favourite album from Metallica would be Load. And I'm not even trying to be an hipster cunt right now. Songs like Hero of the Day, Bleeding Me, King Nothing, Until it Sleeps and many more all have a special place in my heart. I sincerely fail to see what's so bad about Load. I guess it's because people in general, in their nature of being a human, hate changes. Oh and let's not forget about the absolute killer The Outlaw Torn, one of their best !
