It was worth it to play Brink.
Woo, over-hype.
Makes sense, crowds of people, many of them likely not very clean. I'm not too concerned though, the plague is easy to treat with modern antibiotics. Amoxicillin is effective iirc Oh the article is a joke
ITT: We don't get satire.
Sounds like bullshit. Source seems a bit dodgy, and I can't find the story elsewhere. Also, there's no tweet on the twitter account that was linked either. Oh, wow, they even posted this: http://www.thenobleeskimo.com/steamusers.html
Ahahaha, epic win. Users don't pick their actual birthdays, obviously :P
The bubonic plague was only an issue because nobody knew how to protect against it.
Even if they did know how to, the conditions they lived in at the time would have been impossible to escape, or at the very least would have taken years to change. Hard to create a sanitary environment when you lack a proper way to dispose of waste.
I thought the Bubonic plaque had been completely eradicated, are my teachers lying to me again?
It isn't completely eradicated (the only two eradicated diseases are smallpox and rinderpest), but it's virtually unknown in the western world. There's been maybe a dozen cases per decade in the US/Europe region.

Is it odd that I decided to go wearing NBC equipment, then got kicked out for stirring up cause for concern?
I saw a show where a guy caught it from a rat
Well, the disease is carried by fleas that normally infest rats, so that seems possible. Unusual, but possible.
Well, the disease is carried by fleas that normally infest rats, so that seems possible. Unusual, but possible.
He lived in america and they had to put him in quarantine. Also I think Marmots carry it.
Technically, it still exists. Its just so uncommon as to be almost nonexistent. Same thing with polio and small pox.
Smallpox is, in fact, completely eradicated. There's only two samples left, both in highly-secure bioweapons research facilities. One's in the US, the other's in Russia.

You know, Satire should NOT BE ALLOWED in the News section. News section should be left to real news and truth. Not lies or comedic news parody.
How are we SURE Smallpox has been eradicated?
I even saw a Plauge Doctor at Pax east today :byodood: Not bullshitting
Promo for Assassin's Creed Brotherhood?
But it's not deadly like pot
Holy shit, how does this happen 2 years in a row?
Put 2000 unshowered nerds in the same building together and this is what you get
You know, Satire should NOT BE ALLOWED in the News section. News section should be left to real news and truth. Not lies or comedic news parody.
to be honest it isnt even news
Urinating is a symptom of the plague? Well shit.
Urinating is a symptom of the plague? Well shit.
Please learn how to read, it said if you're urinating or continuously vomiting blood, as in, you're constantly pissing blood.
Well that sounds safe...
They're BSL-4 facilities. Anyone working in them is equipped with a full hazmat suit with contained oxygen supply. Entry/exit involves multiple chemical showers, a vacuum chamber, industrial-grade UV lamps, and multiple vacuum-tight doors. The entire building is kept below 1 atmosphere of pressure, so if there is a containment breach, air goes in, not out. Finally, any work on BSL-4 agents is done inside a BSL-3-rated safety cabinet. As for security against attack, the Russian base is protected by motion sensors, three sets of electric/barbed-wire fences, and a Spetznaz detachment. The US base is presumably (couldn't find exact info) protected by similar measures (probably USMC instead of Spetznaz, though). Yeah, it's pretty fucking safe.
How are we SURE Smallpox has been eradicated?
No one has had it for over 40 years.
