If people want to lie to themselves, they should be free to do so. As long as it doesn't harm others. Also if a person wants to build, say, an orphanage or a homeless shelter "because God told them so" I wouldn't really mind either. Of course, preferably, said individual should do these acts of kindness because they wanted to and not to please some sort of fictive deity.
