Xbox servers for it already shut down, so there's more love for PC actually
That would be true, if it weren't for the fact that 1. Halo 2 was released significantly later on pc 2. it was a terrible port 3. they haven't released another game on PC since
I've always felt like I've missed out on something in life since I've never gotten the chance to play any Halo multiplayer, yet I own all of them save for 4.
Ive never understood what people see in the halo franchise.
I don't get some of the rabid admiration but I can see why its popular It's a relatively simple shooter with rock solid mechanics. Halo 1 had something very alluring about its story and design while still displaying great restraint, something the likes of say, COD, never had an ounce of. Beyond that, well then you embark into fanboy territory.

You didn't have to prepare anything, you just spawn and pick weapons up and shoot the shit.

Something tells me the people bitching about it in this thread haven't played it in at least 4-5 years

Shooting a sniper shot that bounces off of 8 walls before killing 1 teammates, and two enemies at once. Randomly throwing a sticky nade across map, which sticks to a banshee, which blows up, and falls to earth killing 2 of the pilots team. Just fun and funny shit.
I think he may also be referring to the rest of the Halo series not being on PC
Not only that, but the Windows 8 approach as well.
This sucks. I hate halo 4, so I kept on running back to the older games. The only tunneling service for halo 2 Xbox I know are Xlink Kai and Xbox connect. Xlink only has halo 2 servers in South America, and Peer to peer isn't fun on a Colombian host. Xbox connect usually doesn't have any other servers besides MLG settings (which I don't mind because I enjoy halo 2 as a competitive game) but it also has a low player base. Really hope they don't shut 3 down because them I'm pretty much done.
Well how the fuck is anyone on PC gonna play Halo multi now? Is Gearbox gonna port the 4 or 5 games that came after 2? I highly doubt it.
Halo 1 and Halo CE still have huge communities, plus you'll just be able to hop onto Hamachi and play games in one of those lobbies. I've actually done that for Halo 2 on the Xbox and it works wonderfully. Now if only more people would get into the PS2 online lobbies... [editline]17th January 2013[/editline]
Something tells me the people bitching about it in this thread haven't played it in at least 4-5 years
I've tried to play it quite often the past few months but there's rarely anyone online anymore. They're pretty much spot on with the whole "peaking under 20 players" thing; I get into a lobby with two other people and the match never starts.
it's free
With a limit of five. Unless you want to pay money every something.
I just played halo 2 yesterday, there were plenty of people online.
why cant we just have dedis
Why are some people acting like victims?
Well how the fuck is anyone on PC gonna play Halo multi now? Is Gearbox gonna port the 4 or 5 games that came after 2? I highly doubt it.
Halo 1 PC still runs fine because it's not bound to a master server [editline]17th January 2013[/editline]
No point in playing the pc-victim card here, their servers peaked at 20 players for fucks sake, there was barely any interest
Due to it being an incredibly shit game. I bought it on release due to my excitement. It was awful. The controls alone are atrocious. I love Halo 2, but H2Vista was shit.
we need a halo 2 HD remake but just make multiplayer the way it was. god i miss the halo 2 XBL days...
we need a halo 2 HD remake but just make multiplayer the way it was. god i miss the halo 2 XBL days...
At the same time though, the online gaming community didn't improve from the Halo 2 says to now. It got worse. MUCH worse. I feel like Halo 2 re-released exactly as it was, still would never be the same because of how the majority of the online gaming population is now.

I think the level-headed portion of XBL would stay on H2 and maybe become a haven of sorts for cool people.

I'm ranked pretty high in team slayer, and games usually end with a close score. In the lobby after the game is over, its not uncommon to hear "good game" or "hey you guys want to play together?" A lot of the immature people and kids move on to the newest game, so you are pretty much correct.
I'm still pissed at Micro$oft foor shutting down the Halo 2 Xbox servers (and they increased the price of Gold subscription around the same time).
snippity snip im a bit late [editline]18th January 2013[/editline]
we need a halo 2 HD remake but just make multiplayer the way it was. god i miss the halo 2 XBL days...
Halo 2 PC actually looked pretty decent, especially like plasma stuff launched from the plasma cannon and plasma rifle and stuff like that. Very smooth. Only problem was that it didn't support too many video resolutions.
Disappointing. I just recently remembered I never uninstalled Halo 2 PC and have been playing through the campaign with hopping into multiplayer every so often. Fun stuff. If they touch Custom Edition though, that's when I'll blow a gasket.
imagine the bond between those 20 players. [editline]17th January 2013[/editline] "ENERGY SWORD FAGGOT"
well i guess there goes another future purchase
Well how the fuck is anyone on PC gonna play Halo multi now? Is Gearbox gonna port the 4 or 5 games that came after 2? I highly doubt it.
hamachi, gameranger, tunngle and countless other methods.

Evolve, use that for Halo 2 now.
They're not disabling MP entirely, just taking down the master servers that power the server browser, you can still play MP games with people, you'd just have to join manually. You shouldn't need hamachi or any of that crap either, port forwarding will give you a much better end result (better latency for starters) Edit: Oh wait, if Halo 2 doesn't support direct connections and just does it's own browsing for LAN games then you would need to run Hamachi or such, that'd suck.
Posted this in the halo thread, but OpenSauce for Custom Edition basically allows us to implement pretty much all of Halo 2's features to Halo CE, so if someone was to take the time, we could theoretically pretty much port the whole game over to CE. And on top of that OS has some really nice shaders and good support for high quality models and textures, so it could be made to basically be Halo 2 but with graphics in between 2 and 3's quality.
