While I hope that this will work, I'm skeptical.
Pretty sure it costs a lot more to move overseas than it does over land.
If you are planning to move away you might as well spend more to go to a place you want to move.

Agreed. I just found it stupid to say "there's nowhere else to go" and completely neglect the fact that Earth is a lot bigger than just the general North America region.
What Detroit just really needs is an industry boom to get everything moving again in the city's economy but unfortunately All-American cars just don't have the market they used to so it'll probably never happen

It costs an obscene amount of money and time to leave your country and go live overseas. Not everyone has thousands upon thousands of dollars to buy a plane ticket and a house in another country. Not to mention the shit that customs makes you go through.

It's not like you need a shitton of money to buy your own house in your own country.
It's true there are additional costs to moving to another country, but the costs are not obscene. It will be hard to raise any significant sum of money right now though.
If you got the money for a plane ticket and find a company that houses foreigners then it should be very doable.
You can get a work visa to live and work in another country and if you get a spouse visa you can stay forever.
This sounds like the kind of thing that needs implemented in Scotland, most places around my area are completely down the shitter with violence and crime.
Wow I had no idea there was a formal theory for this. I had come up with something similar myself due to experiences at several different schools. In my highschool, everyone had an attitude of "well it's a shithole anyway", and people would kick in windows, throw their garbage on the ground, and just generally be shitheads. At other highschools in the area, which were better kept, these things of course still happened, but not with the same frequency. Why is that important? Because most other schools had 1000-1500 students. Mine had 650.
I hate it where I live. We're so small, and all the dumbasses and fucks are moving to here from L.A, and the neighboring ghetto town that's already in shit poor condition.
It used to be so peaceful, and calm here. A retirement settlement for the older folks. Now it's a bustling hive that stinks of the smell of long-gone businesses, abandoned super markets, weeds growing from the cracks in the ground, and the putrid essence of the "G4ngstas 'fo LIFE" generation of know-it-all kids who try their hardest to make everyone hate them---but people don't. These kids actually praise these dumbasses. THIS IS OUR FUTURE? WELL, I GUESS WE'RE FUCKED!
Now, I can't even take my eyes off the fucking street without getting my house/my neighbor's house tagged up by a bunch of knuckledragging wasteheads who can't tag for shit in their gangster-attire. I used to leave my house often, but now with all this shit, I can't even walk down the sidewalk alone..
*sigh* Hopefully I can leave this shithole and move somewhere more civil.
I'd move to Canada, but I heard politics there are shitting up the place pretty fast.
I'd move to Mexico, but I don't want my head cut off and stuffed with baggies of cocaine.
There's nowhere to go anymore....
Or you could try another state instead of dumping all the money into going overseas.
But that's be plain silly

Are you sure you're looking at houses? I think the cheapest house I've ever seen was a trailer going for $16,000.
Clean neighbourhood -> "there's a social taboo against littering and smashing cars" -> "I won't do either of those things"
Dirty neighbourhood -> "there's no taboo against those things, perhaps it is even expected of me" -> "I will do both of those things"
This might well be true, my city used to be goddam butt ugly so throwing wrappers on the ground didn't do anything to my conscience.
Now it's a gorgeous place, and I don't want to do anything the slightest to fuck that up.
Same with my school really.
I'd suggest you go to Norway like I plan to but I don't want other people hogging all the butter
Hey man git your own butter!
I was thinking of the economic theory and was really confused.
