• Contact lenses project Images Straight to your Eye. New era of gaming?
Lets hope you can configure a lot (got one bad eye) or it will be yay blurry shit.
Really the one thing needed for seeing depth is having two good working eyes, so I don't see it working out for you.
it probably wouldn't be fun if you were playing penumbra with those things on, "OH SHIT HOW DO I GET THESE LENSES OFF OH SHIT A DOG!"
How will you look at the HUD? If you move your eyes the entire HUD will move, you won't be able to read it.
To bypass this problem the contact lenses should also be able to read the position of the eye and head, and the image should move according to that. It would also make gaming with these things more immersive
I can't imagine what trying to sleep would be like with a movie constantly playing no matter if your eyes are closed or not. Would probably cause some severe problems.... Or maybe it'd work like all those old "PLAY AUDIO TAPES WHILST YOU SLEEP" myths suggested; our eyes are far more effective than other senses.
Or you just take them out at night, you dont sleep with contact lenses on
so what happens when someone closes their eyes with these on
Risk blindness? no thanks. But good oppurtunity for other people.
Seriously, I want this for my glasses.
Can't wait
IRL hud on its way? My life long dream is on its way. I am so happy! :3:
I suppose this would look clear even if a person's eyes are pretty nearsighted? Would wearing glasses over these effect the image? I'm guessing yes and no, since the image being projected is right on the eye, and the glasses wouldn't interfere with it hopefully.
-fuck i'm so high man-
Because these are lenses for each eye, everything would be in 3D Awesome
Holy shit, this means gun sights are now officially obsolete
I'll stick to the good old buttons thank you very much. :colbert: But this is still pretty awesome.
Holy shit, this means gun sights are now officially obsolete
no it doesn't you still need to aim the fucking gun it's not like you have it pointing EXACTLY IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR VISION like fucking magic with these contacts on. it does not make life a video game. only feasible targeting system would be a module on the gun that acted as a laser sight for the gun, and projected a reticule where the gun IS aiming.
Holy shit, this means gun sights are now officially obsolete
Eh, no. If I need to explain it then there will be problems.

Whats up with the author of that article?
What would you like to “see” (3 for 3! What do I win?)
The practical applications for these, if they worked as advertised, would be pretty world changing. Having a HUD could benefit workers on thousands of jobs. Obviously there'll be issues like people getting run over because they're paying attention to a HUD and not the car about to hit them. Driving would also be dangerous.
I'm really, really excited for what this means for the Video game industry. Most namely, the Assassin's Creed series.
Do people still lose contacts often? This could get expensive.
I really would like to slap the person who would lose a pair of these. But that kind of brings up another point. Would people need to buy a replacement pair eventually?
To be honest, If I wanted a HUD I would either want to buy it with a helmet, or wait till it becomes a nano-aug.
This is another one of those things that we hear about, forget about, and never see again I bet :smith: This is SO fucking awesome, but for some reason I bet they wont release it
To be honest, If I wanted a HUD I would either want to buy it with a helmet, or wait till it becomes a nano-aug.
If you wait, you'll most likely be too old to really do anything with it, or dead.
Hasn't video gaming started the same way?
Actually it didn't:
If you wait, you'll most likely be too long too old to really do anything with it, or dead.
Good point, I'll just buy the helmet or goggles or whatever, as long as it's not contact lenses.
Do people still lose contacts often? This could get expensive.
I've had contacts for years now and haven't lost one. However I wonder if you'll have to replace these. I have to get a new pair of normal contacts every month.
Oh fuck off, I wear contacs already.
Now you can wear 2 pairs
Oh god, the possibilities of... blindness.
