Although we live in Canada, my family it in the same boat. 17k to live off of, 1200 a month for rent. Not to mention everything in Kelowna is massively fucking expensive (gas is $5 a gallon, $1.25/L).
Gas is that price everywhere else. Is your whole family really living on minimum wage ?
One single piece of shit legislation put the states in this position: N.A.F.T.A.

And what the fuck are you talking about needing more regulation? Obama is about as far left as you can get without being communist, and look how he ruined the country. He's racked up a national debt larger than all of the former presidents combined in just 3 years. In fact, look how fucked Europe is from socialism, nothing is going to get them out of that mess.
Regulatory agencies in the government are primarily staffed by ill trained or non-trained people off the street to give them jobs "to solve the jobs problem." We don't need more people that have no idea what they're doing to attempt to manage something they know zero about, that didn't need managing in the first place.
The single thing that would fix the job market is repealing N.A.F.T.A. and closing the huge loophole that corporations can use to outsource to other countries, but we all know this will never happen.
Can't tell if trolling or absolutely stupid.
Also, to the people who are claiming that America is becoming a third-world dictatorship, it really isn't lol. The USA is still #4 on the UN Human Development Index. Which obviously there are deep problems, the idea that the US is essentially Somalia is pretty wrong.

He's someone who thinks we can fix the economy through the abolition of one thing, as well as someone looking for a singular person to blame for this. One thing alone cannot fix the jobs market, because what job-creators need is a reason to create jobs. They need to feel that they HAVE to hire more people or they'll lose the ability to compete in an open market. The only real way to do this is to enable employers to realize there is a common goal for all US employers to work for. Look at a unified country such as South Korea. They are not having the issues we are because their businesses, while competing with eachother, understand and comply with the government's wishes that they enable their country to adequately compete with other countries. The majority of these "special interest" industries in the US (such as insurance, medical and gasoline) all have no real markets outside of the United States, therefore when something that the majority of businesses agree with comes of the US legislation, that could help but limits a few things, they whine and moan and lobby until it's removed.
edit: Also do people not understand the concept/definition of modern socialism? It's NOTHING like the communistic dictatorship they seem to fanatically rant about. There are over 14 "socialist" first-world countries in the world, including every single Scandinavian one, so I think people need to start choosing their words a little more carefully.
Well, this is pretty interesting.

I don't know about the number of people who are living in "poor or low income" conditions like the article claims, but this map is wrong.
about 15% of the US population is living below the national poverty line, not 50%

Why exactly do these chucklefuckers scream so much about Communism anyway? The only Communist countries left are China, which is Communist in name only, Cuba, which is a tiny-ass island ruled by a geriatric demagogue, and North Korea, which is barely even functional as a state.
Do these idiots even know the Cold War is over?

It's not even the fact that they're screaming about communism, it's the fact that they keep referring to it as "socialism". They don't seem to realize China is not socialist, well-maintained and VERY proficient countries such as Norway and Finland are socialist.

Bugfixes for Earth 2.0:
- Moved the United States to the west coast of Africa

It's quite literally the ramblings of a madman.

When the UN accounts for inequality, the USA falls to number 23, it moves further than any other country on there: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_inequality-adjusted_HDI
No data for Australia or New Zealand?
Are you serious?
that one is less believable than the one before

Hahaha you're so delusional it's ridiculous.
yeah we're basically Somalia over here
approximately 15% of Americans are living with an income that puts them in relative poverty
however most people think that's a significant underestimation of relative poverty - ie being unable to bill pays etc.
While the poverty threshold is updated for inflation every year, the basket of goods used to determine what constitutes being deprived of a socially acceptable miniumum standard of living has not been updated since 1955. As a result, the current poverty line only takes goods into account that were common more than 50 years ago, updating their cost using the Consumer Price Index. Mollie Orshansky, who devised the original goods basket and methodology to measure poverty, used by the U.S. government, in 1963-65, updated the goods basket in 2000, finding that the actual poverty threshold, i.e. the point where a person is excluded from the nation's prevailing consumption patterns, is at roughly 170% of the official poverty threshold.
Are you serious?
Data is from https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/.
Hah, so you're going to believe a chart that no only covers the whole world, but lists US as a country where 60%+ of its populations are living below their national poverty line? No data most likely only means either that the country doesn't hold a count of it because poverty is uncommon, or that the country suffers from poverty so much that they can't keep a count.

I prefer the other one because it's funnier
I judge the validity of data based on how funny it is
Yeah you Americans should come down under, a lot better than what it is apparently like over there! Just don't live in the big cities unless you want your eyes to get raped at the housing prices.
Make sure to bring Dr Pepper, pop tarts and Reese's peanut butter cups though, all that shit is hard to find if you don't know the right places.

Just because I believe this chart to be less valid than the other, doesn't mean I consider the other valid at all.
But there is data on it! Our poverty measure is updated every three months!

if you make a claim you back it up yourself with a source, that's how it works
Yeah I kinda thought that map was crap when I saw it.
So it the article a fat load too?
Funny how quickly things change, from the top to the low

it's true because it counts poverty and low income
low income being the killer because you won't qualify for financial aid but you can barely survive
