Football - UN calls on gay World Cup players to declare sexuality

This has been a huge deal in Germany, which is a country that heavily covets soccer. High rank players declaring their homosexuality after they finished their career in order to keep their career safe.
It's absolutely ridiculous when you think about it, must be hard to hide your true sexuality just to keep some hardcore fans happy.
Easier said than done really; the macho, laddish culture within the sport has to be completely broken down before players can come out and declare their sexuality.
Laddish, fair enough, but not macho. Most players fall down when their hair is touched. This what's being addressed though, right? By having players come out it breaks down those barriers.
You mean by calling it soccer and not caring about it?
Soccer is a shortening of "association," meaning "association football."
So saying that the World Cup is a game of soccer is just as appropriate (or more appropriate) as calling it a game of football :eng101:
This is all about what homosexual people think, but not what actually happens.
And why do you think they feel this way?
And there is an overwhelming support for gay marriage, so I don't think that culture is really homophobic. Otherwise gay marriage wouldn't become a reality.
just because you haven't seen the problem doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
If you genuinely think LGBT people are making a fuss over nothing, i challenge you to simply walk around your town holding hands with a friend of the same gender.
