Johnny, how come you seemingly know so much about these kinds of matters? What have you studied/are you currently studying?

I just finished a Bachelor's in physics and math a month ago.

Any clues where you'll do grad school?
"Which of the following would be brighter, in terms of the amount of energy delivered to your retina:
A supernova, seen from as far away as the Sun is from the Earth, or
The detonation of a hydrogen bomb pressed against your eyeball?"
Surprising answer: the supernova. Never knew supernovae were that powerful.
No idea yet. I haven't taken my GREs so I won't be applying until next year.

Nice. Any tips for a first-year Bachelor's student in Physics?

The work itself is not that bad. Just budget your time wisely and remember that keeping up is much easier than catching up. Developing a good work ethic is like 10x more helpful than "being smart," whatever that means.
Also, treat your day as if school was your full-time job. (or possibly longer than full time! I think I was working ~60 hours a week on school stuff last semester)

Johnny, you're my moderator crush.
What was your Bachelor project/paper about?

We weren't actually required to do one (though in retrospect if I knew how common senior theses were at the time I would have done one) but I did do an undergrad research paper at the end. It's on anisotropic spacetimes, specifically the Godel metric, the Bianchi spacetimes, and a few other less well-known ones. I'm graduated but my advisor is still helping me finish it up this semester for a nice grad school writing sample.
