If they're in for that long they're in max security and max security is basically a giant dorm room of inmates, rather than an overcrowded pit.

Also before anyone claims that killing people serves as a deterrent the murder rates in states that have the death penalty says otherwise. I like how you call us childish when your way of describing lethal injection is that "they just lay down and get an injection" completely ignoring the sheer horror of knowing you are going to die.

People know they are going to die every day they get up, in every form of media, they are reminded of the fact that they are aging, or that there is something out there that can end them. The entire fucking makeup industry is built around the concept of repressing age. The re offending rate in america isn't because they use punishment, it's because they fucking treat it like it's a goddamn zoo. Encouraging criminals to make gangs together inside a prison and adopting a war time mentality to survive fucks a person up.

Are you saying that the people who have had someone they loved get murdered who didn't go out and kill the murderer are dumb?
