I pretty much never invest into the MP because it's always the same shit. I've never played any MP as much as I played MW2's MP and that was only 70 something hours.

CoD gets so much shit but honestly its one of the only god damn FPS that has split screen coop these days. Those fucks making Halo 5 arent even having coop because they cant get it running at 60 fps if they do splitscreens. A series that pretty much only succeeded due to the splitscreen. Yet CoD always runs like magic, if anything it looks pretty great when it wants to.

I really wish PC would pick up more couch co-op games and such

Halo succeeded because it had a great fucking Single Player not to mention a fantastic PC port. Having split-screen might have helped indirectly but that's not what solely made Halo succeed.

Halo succeeded not solely due to the campaign or split-screen co-op. Most of the attention I remember was on the customizable multiplayer fun, especially if you rigged your Xbox in a way to let you play matches online before Xbox Live was a thing. There's lots of stories I remember about 4-player splitscreen Slayer matches as a common party game trend before Halo 2 and Live took off.
