The patriot act reminds me of a dystopia or a police state. I really don't like it. Now if we had reason to believe there were international spies working against the US then MAYBE that would cause reason for something LIKE this act. In the end I don't like it but at the same time it doesn't bother me. I don't have anything to hide from the government but I understand how bad something like this could turn out.
It's kind of angering when it comes from the country that goes to fight for "democracy" across the globe.
What surprises me more is that they admitted it, when you get those National Security Letters you aren't even allowed to tell your lawyer you got them. Nobody.
Violation of rights yes, but I doubt they want to know what type of porno you watched last night. It's probably something for tracking down international criminals or some bullshit.
Ugh, fuck off USA.
I hate how the us seem to think they can police the world and shit.
Are you implying that they aren't doing it right now? Or that they haven't already been doing it for decades?
I hope a shitstorm in EU parliament makes it impossible for this to happen.
Woah... That is the most stupid law I have ever seen.
It was going to be retracted but the Republican House decided they wanted to violate our privacy some more so they voted it to stay.
I hope that the internet becomes a sort of sovereign entity which no one country *cough*US*cough* has control over - as in making laws governing "data security" universal.
they had no right to give the US info
unfortunately, they also have no right not to.
I think the any government in the world would be surprised what would happen if they tried to take control of the internet. Everyone else, not so much.
Noone is protected now. Not even my foreign friends.
ok? who cares if they know what porn sites you go on and where you do your banking? wait.... the us is going to STEAL ALL THE MONEY FROM EUROPEAN CITIZENS ITS A CONSPIRACY JUST LIKE 9/11

Google isn't completely free from blame considering they were collecting this information in the first place.
Woah... That is the most stupid law I have ever seen.
Its almost fascist.
Why?
Because
Google Admits Handing over European User Data to US Intelligence Agencies

Because
What does that have to do with the census?
I like how China had to hack google for the info they needed, and it caused huge worldwide uproar. USA just simply asks and gets it without anybody rising an eyebrow.
