as much as i think racism and socioeconomics do factor into this, it has a majority to do with genes and and our idea of what's attractive. this is all based around my locale, things could be completely different in other areas, but more often than not, caucasian and asian women not only appear more physically feminine, but also dress, behave, and speak more feminine. latin and african women, more often than not, inherit more physical traits that we interpret as less feminine (fuller lips, higher cheekbones, broader noses), and also dress, behave, and speak less feminine. that is not to say that these stereotypes are the standard. regardless of sex or race, our appearances and behavior will vary deeply for so long as we continue to reproduce. this is also the opinion of a man, i would like to hear this from a woman's perspective. there is also the issue of racial persecution. many still do not agree with interracial relationships, or may be uncomfortable with the prospect. it really boils down to hundreds of different factors, from race roles, to gender roles, upbringing, etc. i personally believe racism and sexism will be apparent issues, so long as we can point out the differences between one another. whether or not it remains a means to segregate us is truly up to us as a people. when i think about the possible future where i have a spouse and children, i don't really think about what race my wife is. as long as she's on my level, and looks nice without makeup, then i'm completely fine.
i get all the bithchesftches
I'm not a white man nor an asian woman. I'm a hairy Iranian man. Fuck.
lol asian women are universally wanted while asian men aren't
The test group of 2.4 million people was "aged mostly 35 and older" That's a pretty important part. I'd like to see an 18 to 29 age group test.
Who you are attracted to is a product of social conditioning though; the media (commercials, movies, tv shows, etc) generally uphold specific standards of beauty and these standards of beauty can be pretty goddamn racist. Also you totally can change the state of "not being attracted to X race" by consciously rejecting those standards of beauty which have been conditioned into you by society. It totally is something you have control over. I mean FP generally seems willing to buy that being attracted to Anorexic models is not a good thing, this is the same as that...
what if I consciously like some Asian women over white women? I don't think the media twists my perception of Asian women in any way because all things regarding beauty feature only white women with the occasional black here. I don't even know what point you are trying to argue. how am I racist for liking women from other races? wouldn't it be more racist to only go after women from my own race?
lol asian women are universally wanted while asian men aren't
maybe it's because asian men outnumber all other men.
I don't think this has anything to do with racism at all, it's just heartless to announce your distaste for people just for their skin colour and heritage.
Why would the media try to condition all men to be attracted to asian women?
It doesn't have to be a conspiracy. Prejudice can work like a feedback loop; when attractiveness is made a commodity (which it very much is) then the media will pursue further and further extremes of a specific interpretation of attractiveness while excluding anything which doesn't meet those standards. Again, a good example is how female models are driven to eating disorders in the pursuit of being thinner and thinner. Thinking that that sort of thing is attractive when it's demonstrably unhealthy is a product of being surrounded by that culture. And of course you can say "well I personally don't think that's attractive" but it obviously sells to most people because that's still the way things are.
I don't think this has anything to do with racism at all, it's just heartless to announce your distaste for people just for their skin colour and heritage.
Lets not pretend we're all perfect human beings; romantic relationships are in good part physical. [editline]22nd November 2013[/editline]
I think it would turn out to be the same situation.
I don't think so. As goes the stereotype, Asian women seem to appear younger at older ages than white women for example.
Lets not pretend we're all perfect human beings; romantic relationships are in good part physical.
Wouldn't you want to transcend the arbitrary measures of "physical attractiveness" that might close off certain otherwise good relationships to you?
looking this deep into physical preferences only on the internet
Wouldn't you want to transcend the arbitrary measures of "physical attractiveness" that might close off certain otherwise good relationships to you?
we call such good relationships friendship.
looking this deep into physical preferences only on the internet
is thinking that unpleasant an activity?

It isn't the same in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, etc. As for the internet, English speaking countries have mainly Caucasian populations, and so that's where that abundance comes from. Lets just not get into stuff like this :)
Lets not pretend we're all perfect human beings; romantic relationships are in good part physical.
it benefits to try the range of shades
but what if you're both
I'm into Norse women. Really, the only girls I'm not attracted to are English girls.
Wouldn't you want to transcend the arbitrary measures of "physical attractiveness" that might close off certain otherwise good relationships to you?
why not let yourself have both, personality and appearance there's so many people in the world, you can easily find people with both.
You mean studies show that shit is still super racist? I'm taken aback.
I'm not racist, I'm just picky
I'm not racist, I'm just picky
what about a white girl with a year-round tan? [editline]23rd November 2013[/editline] see I've just blown the entire study into pieces..
Why would the media try to condition all men to be attracted to asian women?
Japan has a declining population. Japan doesn't like that. Japan bribes the media. :v:
Pretty sure them being attracted to one race doesn't mean they don't feel attraction(or are racist, whatever) to the other races. To me, at least, what race I'm attracted to seems to vary a lot and constantly.

Calling somebody a racist for being more physically attracted to one race over another is really stretching it. I generally prefer blondes and redheads over dark haired girls, but that doesn't mean I've got any beef with brunettes.
Also you totally can change the state of "not being attracted to X race" by consciously rejecting those standards of beauty which have been conditioned into you by society. It totally is something you have control over.
How do you do it?
I'm not calling any individuals racist I'm saying "racial preferences" are a product of media racism
By what process does the media tell people "what to like"? Isn't it more of a case that the media reflects the population instead of the other way around?
