I'm from Indiana, don't like Pence, but this was 100% unprofessional and rude. Your there to do your play and entertain your guest, your political stance or views should not come in the way of your job that it upsets the whole audience. It's not professional, if you have something to say, wait after the play and address him personally or, not at all.
Hamilton was directly written as a harsh criticism of the policies and viewpoints that Pence supports, and the whole play is about American politics and the discrimination that immigrants and minorities face in America. It's not like this is out of left field
If mike pence tries to 'cure' all the gay people, how does he expect to enjoy a good theatre show?
they addressed him in front of the whole audience tho
ye but he made it sound like they didn't wait besides, they did have the stage, eh
I disagree with the crowd booing, but for what everything Hamilton & Musical Theatre in general stand for, pence should've expected something like that coming. Again, do not condone the crowd for booing.
His speech came off as a little patronizing, but I suppose if Pence is a homophob - as people are saying here - I can understand why; even if he saw a play dedicated to a diverse theme (Left wing?). If his future administration, or himself, do hate everything left of the river though - I can't see why he'd bother attending in the first place.
The actor's speech was wonderful but I fear it will fall on deaf ears. Men like Pence cannot be convinced by anything but power.
APOLOGIZE. Though really, I think they should have just left him be. Regardless of what you think of him, nobody really deserves to be publicly lectured. It's just bad practice.
Mike Pence deserves it. Politicians in general deserve it. They're not ordinary people-- they're supposed to be public servants, and they should be held accountable and to a higher standard than private citizens consequently. He doesn't get a special pass, he doesn't deserve a special pass, and he doesn't even deserve an apology. Which the fact that Trump is crying for an apology because it was "rude" is hilariously ironic since this is a man who himself (as well as his supporters) cries about liberal "safe spaces", civic-mindedness, etc. Fuck him.
Theres a difference between a public political stance, running for office on that stance and meddling with peoples private lives. This was clearly his private life. booing and calling him out crosses a line... Its uncivilised.
Oh yeah I guess we should just forget that he's a homophobic piece of shit because he's in his "private life".
I can't think of any "American" deserving this treatment more, than maybe the WBC or KKK. It's one thing to be anti-gay, it's another thing to actively suppress and torture trans and gay people which many times leads to suicide. As well as that, also causing an HIV epidemic by defunding planned parenthood (I may not be getting this one right, but he defunded something). If he wasn't with his family, he is totally fair game. Fuck him. [editline]19th November 2016[/editline] I wouldn't participate, but I would smile.
He defunded AIDS funding, not planned parenthood.
Oh yeah I guess we should just forget that he's a homophobic piece of shit because he's in his "private life".
And so you think booing him every time he goes outside is going to change that? I don't like him either, but I don't see how that's going to fix anything.

He went behind enemy lines, and got booed. Hardly unexpected. Would be like Obama/Biden getting booed at the height of his unpopularity because he decided to attend some NASCAR or rodeo event in some rural part of a safe red state
Hamilton was directly written as a harsh criticism of the policies and viewpoints that Pence supports, and the whole play is about American politics and the discrimination that immigrants and minorities face in America. It's not like this is out of left field
Yeah i guess thats true, i never thought of it relating to the context of the play. Good point.
Pence is scum who deserves worse than to be boo'd.
Theres a difference between a public political stance, running for office on that stance and meddling with peoples private lives. This was clearly his private life. booing and calling him out crosses a line... Its uncivilised.
Neither the president nor the vice-president of the US have private lives, never had, never will. It's hard to see this as anything but retribution. Trump's campaign has not for a moment cared about moderation, privacy or language. It's nothing but hypocrisy to be offended over something as minor as this when they've done the same.
if the masses can't boo a shitty politician something is really up
"pffft liberals are so oversensitive, we should be able to hurl whatever abuse we like at people, whenever we want! fuck pc culture, always policing what is and isn't acceptable to say!" "omfg how dare you boo this guy who advocates the torture of LGBT teens!! this was supposed to be a safe space!! apologise for this unacceptable behaviour!!" Just when I thought that the post election irony was as glaring as possible.
If Pence (and Trump) can't handle being booed at without hitting Twitter to bitch, I don't see them doing very well in office.
I mean I think the boo's are warranted, although not decorous. Good to see even a play that's as big a corporate sell-out as Hamilton remaining a deeply political space. Also the speech was in good taste, good on the cast and production for not getting caught up and too aggressive with it.
I just thought about what you said for a second. This is going to be the first president where he sits on Twitter and fucking whines and bitches about everything he doesn't like.
These next 4 years are going to be fucking wild.
if i was there i'd be pretty sour if i'm paying money to go see a broadway show, it's because i want to forget about the world for a period of time. not sit there while people boo (about things that have nothing to do with the performance).

The actor's speech was a magnificent thing to do. EDIT: opps, sorry. Hamilton is actually a cool dude. It is BURR that's the asshat in the story.

That is like me going to play about how much of a cunt I am, then being upset that people called me a cunt.

I wasn't putting myself in Pence's shoes, I was putting myself in the shoes of an audience member.
The audience litreally booed Pence and clapped the Actor - I don't think they'd share your sentiments.
Okay! I'm sorry! I just said how I'd feel to be there. I doubt the audience is a hivemind. This "with us or against us" shtick is getting pretty stale.
Trump supporters are always telling liberals to suck it up, don't get so offended, PC outrage etc. but when you boo a shithead like Mike Pence suddenly it's "OH YOU'RE BEING RUDE AND UNCIVILIZED WHERE'S YOUR RESPECT" give me a fucking break.
Okay! I'm sorry! I just said how I'd feel to be there. I doubt the audience is a hivemind. Sorry if it came off as hostile, I was being as neutral as possible.

Sorry if it came off as hostile, I was being as neutral as possible.
Sorry, my "with us or against us shtick is getting stale" comment was mostly referring to UnidentifiedFlyingTard. I just wanted to nip the thought that I was defending Pence in the bud.
What the fuck, man? I wasn't putting myself in Pence's shoes, I was putting myself in the shoes of an audience member.
Sorry, I didn't see this post and I misunderstood your other post.
