I'm hoping to Christ Mattis is also against invading Iran since that would also be massively retarded and would end up making Iraq look like a cake walk.
Pretty sure Mattis is smart enough to avoid ground/air intervention with any sovereign country unless its literally last resort. He knows the cost of war and he knows he's putting actual humans both his own and civilians at risk with whatever the armed forces do, and that carries a huge emotional cost
Mattis just doesn't want to see men and women die over some cement islands in the ocean.
Make more sense to erode them since they are built on sand.
Every day I feel as if Mattis is the only thing between Trump and a war with China/Iran/Mexico.
I don't know much about Mattis's history, but he seems to be the only voice of reason in the entire Trump administration. I'm not confident that he will be enough to prevent catastrophe, however. While he might be cautioning Trump towards diplomacy with China, you have to remember that our chief diplomat is Trump -- the biggest boor our government has ever seen. If diplomacy is the key to avoiding a war with China, and Trump is our chief diplomat, then we're well and proper fucked.
thanks for looking out for america, mattis i'll sleep comfortably at home knowing that even as my rights get slowly stripped away, you'll be there to protect our country from pointless wars
I hope he doesn't get sick of tidying up Trump's messes.
He strikes me as a man that will keep doing so even if he does because he knows full well of what the alternatives are.
sanders/mad dog 2020 possibly the most voted for candidacy in the united states
Tulsi/Mattis 2020. Military wonder-combo.
