Is Waitrose the UK equivalent of Dean & DeLuca?
Posts like this don't work because just as you don't know what Waitrose is, no one in the UK knows what Dean & DeLuca is
How does Waitrose compare to Marks&Spencers?

I'd lean towards saying M&S is the slightly posher one, but Waitrose is owned by John Lewis, so it's a very minor gap. Apparently a great place to work, but jobs at it are snapped up really quickly.

there's an M&S in my horrible decaying town so i guess it's more downmarket than waitrose
They're similar. I believe M&S has more emphasis on ready made food.

Also Waitrose is owned by the customer or something like that.

Waitrose is owned by it's employees, they all have shares in it, it's a private company, though the higher ups own more of it ofc.
Every employee gets a bonus at the end of the year and it's continually rated as one of the nicer places to work at.
There are none of these in Scotland. I wonder why.

What the fuck is Dean & DeLuca?

I guess so considering they actually put one in Birkenhead
We had something like this for our bus service in where I live (Allestree)
you started a tweet with #Allestweets and then wrote what you thought of the new Bus route and vehicles
Needless to say it was spammed within an inch of it's life with things like "found poo on chair, disgusted" and "ur busses r gay" and it was somebodies job to respond to all of the negative ones :v:

You'd be surprised, i was looking for jobs anywhere and Waitrose came up in a few places in Scotland. I wouldn't want to work there...
And i know there's one in Edinburgh. Walked past it a few times... But, Somewhere like Glasgow... Eh, doesn't sound like a "Waitrosey" place really.

Edinburgh is the only waitrosey place.
I wouldn't call Waitrose posh, its just a normal supermarket with better quality food

It's still frequented almost exclusively by people who want to feel better than the unwashed masses however

Bit difficult to call, as M&S did their whole up-market food strategy after clothing.
It's say that if they only did food in their store, you'd get a Waitrose.
Very good service, and good looking premises.
Unlike others like Morrisons that have staff that are clearly getting abused.
The only reason I ever go to waitrose is so i can run round the store with the scanner gun...

Basically like a grocery store for rich people.
Dean & DeLuca is a chain of upscale grocery stores. The first one was established in New York City's SoHo district by Joel Dean, Giorgio DeLuca and Jack Ceglic in September 1977.
i shop at waitrose because im painfully bourgeois :(
Growing up I always used to have to tag along with my Mum going to Waitrose all the time. I didn't realise until a few years later the kind of reputation it had.
i say that but i don't care about its reputation, you can get nice stuff there that's hard to find elsewhere and it's useful if you like cooking fancy stuff + want world beers and stuff
I shop there with my parents at least once a week and we're nowhere near being wealthy. Tbh the demographic in my local Waitrose is hardly any different to other supermarkets like Sainsburys
