Never been a fan of the Activision/Treyarch CODs... To me this looks like a downgrade from MW3, just like Black Ops was a downgrade from MW2. Skipping it.
Well they were both a downgrade from CoD4.... but Blops was definitely not a downgrade from Mw2.
In most ways it was a sidegrade, to be fair; equally crazy (yet less entertaining IMO) plot, just as badly balanced multiplayer, more or less the same graphics (though I preferred MW2's). But the key is that it was released AFTER MW2, so logically it should have been better, or at least made an effort at improvement. Instead it had the same downsides, and some new ones: smaller maps, too many useless weapons, even shallower characters. In my books the only advantage it had was Nazi Zombies, but since that came at the cost of Spec Ops, it doesn't count for much.

One may not be high-quality but keeps trying to freshen things up, while the other keeps putting out the same stuff without radically altering it and sticking to the beaten path.
Feh, fuck BO maps, go for WaW maps! I want Seelow, dammit!
I don't like that pro perk idea.. the only way to get the other one after you unlock it is to prestige? What if you're maxed out?
Considering how correct the leaks where in the past, BO2 does sound more playable and interesting. Although im not holding my breath, we'll see what else is "leaked" before i end up buying this.
black ops was definitely the best COD since COD4, i have no doubt BO2 will be rad. Better balance, new zombie campaign, multitudes of nice features/removals, it looks like it will be good. That being said, PUT THE FUCKING GRENADE LAUNCHER BACK IN HARDCORE WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING
i'm okay with this
I think I'm the only one who thinks that Black Ops was genuinely good. Modern Warfare 3 on the other hand was just a rehashed sequel to a rehashed sequel. Black Ops at the very least introduced new elements to Call of Duty, even if they were small ones. The COD points system was cool, there were loads of new attachments, small amounts of player customization, and a really good selection of weapons. The campaign also had a somewhat interesting storyline. Treyarch makes good Call of Duty games, Infinity Ward does not. I will probably buy this if I can find it for less than full price, but not otherwise. The only reason I bought Modern Warfare 3 was because it was 20 dollars on Intkeys.
I enjoyed Black Ops, a lot of people randomly accused it of have bad balance, yet the maps are quite well made and guns were pretty balanced. It seemed like some weapons were OP but that's because they were popular, you get the same results with other guns, e.g. using the Galil rather than the Famas. The missions also felt much more fun compared to MW3.
To me blops was way more balanced than mw2
Because every weapon was the same.
Deathstreaks weren't in BO1 keep in mind, treyach have never done it and I thank them for it because deathstreaks are absolute shit.
WaW had deathstreaks. Deathstreaks are good because if you are doing badly, they help you get back on track. Killstreaks do not, they help the winning team curb stomp harder. The point streak system looks great, it makes objectives actually worth doing instead of killing people until you win via that.
I hope they have a party system on PC. That's why I played BLops less was because it was a hassle to get into a game with friends.

I always enjoyed getting the final kill in last stand. one time I fired 2 shots from the m16 (3 burt rifle) and got put in last stand and then fired the final shot killing the final dude. then pulled out my pistol :D
I've seen bigger changelogs in TF2 updates
Call of Duty is the most repetitive series ever. They've used the same engine since CoD 4, all of the Modern Warfare games re-use textures and sounds, and the only noticeable differences are different weapons, 1 or 2 new perks, 1 or 2 new deathstreaks/killstreaks, and the campaign.
Same engine? you do realised our beloved source engine is older thanthe IW3+ engines? and it has been used in MORE games by ONE company? so I don't eally see your point there? hell, even valve recycle sounds and stuff, remember L4D2's horde arrival noise? That's taken from HL1, I think the files are called Whails or something, heard on on the rail chapter...
No last stand? No deathstreaks? Jesus, it only took you a few years. I like the new perk pro system, seems inspired by ME2/3s upgrade choices... But it's gonna take a lot more than better perks to get me to buy another CoD. Unless the map design has improved leaps and bounds over MW3's/BO1's, it's really just gonna be Blops 1.2.
I don't like this series at all, and I never have, but they're taking out things I disliked strongly. I'm not going to buy this one or anything, but it might be better. Still willing to bet it'll feature a 4 hour campaign and then 12 pieces of expensive DLC, but hey.
This might be the first CoD game I actually buy. I kinda liked Black Ops (even though the balance was awful), and I found MW3 to be a very bad game, but I might get this based on these improvements.
No last stand
:v:
~innovation~
I hope they improve their sound design. I don't know what happened between the transition from WW2 to the Cold War, but BO's weapons sound like garbage.
Some sounded nice, although they ended up sounding boring. Others sounded plain horrible. The AK-74u sounded like pure shit in just about anything. Even the reload sounded like it was some shitty plastic toy, and the firing sounded like pea shooters. [editline]31st March 2012[/editline]
Yeah, this is fair and will totally balance the game.
Disregard balance, up with the fun stuff.
