Who knows, they may take the Raiden route and make Snake pseudo-Cyborg Ninja.
God I hope not.
Anything involving The Boss is unlikely, doesn't fit their model.
Fits their model fine. So far it's just Mentor turns bad, student kills mentor, gets internal conflict for years. over a run of respectively 3 and 5 games. The boss would probably fit there perfectly.
Really wish they'd create a sequel for SNATCHER, though it's obvious that it would never happen, not even a re-release.

Being a console game from the getgo MGS isn't really a game that would benefit too much from anything outside of being a good, optimized port anyway imo
Though hopefully they do it better than the previous games
MGS2 hahahaha
that PC port still gives me nightmares
if it's nice and proper like MGS1 (And they release a demo showing so)
PRE-ORDERING THIS SHIT
Trig, In a 3 dimensional space. Basically it's like cubes and pyramids polygons. All that good stuff.
actually it's more in the likes of 3D vectors, TNB frames (Tangent, Normal, Binormal), flux through 3D planes, 3D path optimization (what's the steepest path up this spacecurve), with gradient vectors, etc.
If this is Outer Haven with the sensibility of MGS3 instead of 4, this is going to own like shit.
There's still plenty of stories that haven't been done about snake, where it gets tricky is fitting into a timeline of events that allows them be to epic in proportion. Every MGS conforms to a basic structure that works well. It wouldn't be very epic for example, if we played as snake during his days in the first gulf war.
Solid isn't dead. As I said, Rising takes place after MGS4 and opens up an entire new set of possibilities.
[editline]22nd February 2012[/editline]
Anything involving The Boss is unlikely, doesn't fit their model. Also, Raiden is Metal Gear Rising.
Not really, no.
Anything done with snake continuing on from MGS4 would be dumb. Yes he doesn't kill himself in the end, but he's still an old man. The only way you could make that work is by some retarded nano machine based retcon in which snakes gets young again!! :) which is stupid for very obvious reasons.
You mean something that will never happen?
[editline]21st February 2012[/editline]
I think it's silly to use spoiler tags for MGS4 since the game has been out for so long, but I will just because I don't feel like getting banned for untagged spoilers again.
[sp]Yes, he didn't die, he's just dying. There is plenty that could still be explored, and there is no telling what Metal Gear Rising will bring up, given how it now takes place after Metal Gear Solid 4.[/sp]
Rising was canceled, and the new Rising developed by Platinum games has nothing to do with the original series. Its sort of like the new DMC game coming, its a "what if".
Although, I wish they made the original Rising true. It was so elegant and nice looking.

I still have that, MGS2: Substance for PC and for PS2. Bought it later because its just soo much better on the PS2 and I wanted all the titles on it.
It was my first true PC game along with GTA3. It was weird because it worked in some PCs, and in others, it didn't run at all. Some it had graphic problems even though it was a "super computer" for such an old game and had its settings on high, others it ran just a bit slow but beautiful.
Controls were a mess though. No pressure controls didn't let you aim the AK/M4 to hold them up without killing them and you had to set them all up from scratch.
I need to conserve my PS2 in a vault with no elemental disturbances so it works forever.
Kojima has stated before they have multiple concepts for the Cobras during WW2. It's either going to be that, Big Boss in Vietnam or a re-telling of the MG games from MSX.
I'm still waiting for a game where you play as Frank Jaeger/Grey Fox at any point prior to Shadow Moses. His entire history is worthy of being told he's that damn interesting.

yup, I remember that
also, mouse input always failed for me, so I ended up having to use the arrow keys for everything.
I'm too cheap to buy a gamepad.

Maybe The Boss would "replace" him well though, and we would start with her being a rookie or something below her Boss rank and then in the end of the game, she would be awarded the rank of Boss and Snake would have a small cameo where he would start his training with her, either in a movie like in the end, or maybe some part in the game where you side with him or even like those "mysterious phone calls" at the end of each game. Although, I would LOVE to see the MSX games in current gen technology, and the stories for those games (including Frank's story) are worthy of "remakes" (if you can call them that, since they would be built from the ground up based on the story) Soo many ideas for everthing... I wish I could be in the team like some intern or anything and just give my 2 cents, even if they wouldn't be used. It would be an honor just to be able to do that for me.

It was bad enough that I had to stretch my hand to press Num5 to lock first person view on and click on (at the time) huge keyboard arrow keys that needed a hammer to work properly at times. I just bought a gamepad later on and fixed most of my trouble with it. Graphics however got even shittier even if I set them on highest settings.

Boss wasn't a rookie in WW2 but she was obviously a while off becoming what she was in Snake Eater. It's all very risky territory and I know they won't go beyond MGS4 so I would think the safest bet would be the re-telling on the MSX games or Big Boss in Vietnam though really that's only mentioned during portable ops by Python.
They could fill in the 20 year gap between PW and MG1, or go post MGS4, perhaps with an entirely new character. It would be a shame if the only Metal Gear post 4 is Revengeance, they need to do a proper one.
Also I really doubt they'll bring back Solid Snake. His story is over now, as of the end of MGS4 [sp]he has months to live.[/sp]

The gap between PW and MG1 (if you're talking the MSX game) is technically told in portable ops. Though I would love to see some Solid Snake pre-moses even if it's not a remake of the MSX games.

I thought portable ops was before peace walker.
I thought portable ops was before peace walker.
Portable Ops is in 1970 and Peace Walker takes place in '74.
There is still the 80s and early 90's. Metal Gear 1 takes place in '95.

Again, Revengeance has NOTHING to do with the main series. Its a spin off.
They should remake Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2 : solid snake ( Not MGS! ) pretty sure i've said this before but i don't care because i want it to happen so bad!
Yikes, it's strange to see how long this series has gone on for given how much Kojima himself has tried to kill it off.

It's canon though.

Yeah I didn't think that through properly. I GUESS they could cover Outer Haven after PW or earlier missions involving Solid Snake but really, a remake of MG1/2 seems to be the most reasonable.

I think it would be pretty cool to follow an aged yet capable Big Boss, and involve The Patriots somehow. It could lead up to why over two decades after he left the US they finally send in somebody to get him. I know Snake wasn't old enough prior to that, but they could've attempted to stop him instead of leaving it 20 years. Come to think of it, why was Big Boss in command of FOXHOUND all that time afterwards? The Patriots would know he's no longer patriotic. Maybe that could be better explained in a sequel.
"Next" Metal Gear Solid you say?

I hope they can get a hold of Nic Cage for the voiceovers

The Wikia sheds some light on the whole thing but it is still a mystery as to why Big Boss went back to FOXHOUND.
In 1971, the group was organized into an official unit within the U.S. Army (though the concept of such a unit was considered as early as 1964).[1] Big Boss originally commanded the group with Campbell acting as a tactician, and the two led them in a series of intense and difficult covert operations. However, Big Boss soon left FOXHOUND and America to form the Militaires Sans Frontieres in 1972, and it would be over 15 years before he would return to the country to re-take command of the unit
Maybe that'll be what they'll tackle now? The teaser image on the Kojima site obviously points to hounds.
Really... With how MGS 4 was wrapped up, I really don't want to see another Metal Gear game that has to do with Snake.
Fucking Kojima, This is how awesome game series turn to shit.
Not that Snake, dammit. I'd be really really surprised if Kojima makes more Solid Snake stuff. I sincerely doubt it.
[sp]I don't think it'll have Big Boss in it, since didn't he die after the credits in MGS4?[/sp]
""That's "good" to hear""
It's canon though.
It really shouldn't be canon. MGS is pretty "unreal" but Revengeance makes it look like an anime instead of an actual game.
Actually, I wont consider it canon. MGS4 was the last in the story, and its gonna stay like that for me.
[sp]I don't think it'll have Big Boss in it, since didn't he die after the credits in MGS4?[/sp]
It doesn't means that they can't do a remake or anything of the sort.
Some it had graphic problems even though it was a "super computer" for such an old game and had its settings on high, others it ran just a bit slow but beautiful.
I remember it running better on a 2004 laptop than on a 2006 desktop. This is mainly because there was no support for certain ati cards or something like that.
I have to say that we've looked into the life of Big Boss as much as we can, what's left for him? Playing from his point of view in metal gear 1 and 2, getting lit on fire by your son wouldn't be the best gameplay.
Solid snake has decided to live out his years in peace.
Raiden gets his own game.
Boss, it better fucking star the boss, how cool would that be, maybe you could also play as the other cobras.
Also, having played MG1 and two, they werent really that good, MG1 was shit. And MG2 was just very poorly done, for Odin's sake you fought Grey Fox (The fight that everyone in MGS raves about) by punching him in the face as he ran around a small room filled with landmines. Yeah, that would transition to 3D great.

What? Actually ending a storyline and not milking it?
