Taking down over a thousand mirror sites will take a bit.
Not to mention the high profile newspapers (like the guardian). That and the fact that Assange isn't wikileaks.
Dunno if I'm late, but anything about that doomsday file?
no
hes only been arrested for sex charges so far so he doesnt HAVE to release it yet, its an insurance file remember.
If he didn't even have the affair with those two people, they would have absolutely nothing on him. They probably won't have enough evidence anyway.
Apparently his lawyers keep asking for the evidence and getting no response, and the judge involved in the extradition wants to see the evidence. So perhaps the evidence is really flaky (or non existent).
Who else would you suggest? He's the one that's receiving the documents. So, he gets to make the choice. He's got a pretty good brain inside his head and just wants the US to be held accountable for its actions. He's not the dangerous radical some demonize him to be.
Sometimes there are only two options and neither is a clear winner.
He's trying to hold the world hostage by threatening that he'll release the encryption codes for a "doomsday" file. And this is the man you want to be deciding what's OK for the public and what isn't?
[editline]8th December 2010[/editline]
no, his post was racist by assuming it was a muslim that was going kill him.
if i said "i don't want my bike stolen by some nigger" i would be banned quite quickly.
I've already said this is a dumb argument and to leave it to the mods.
(And considering the mods didn't ban him, huh huh.)

He's not holding the world hostage, they've threatened to release it if they've got no other options, it's to stop someone from deciding to assassinate anyone at wikileaks.
Goddamn is the world fucked if this shit can now happen.
He's not holding the world hostage, they've threatened to release it if they've got no other options, it's to stop someone from deciding to assassinate anyone at wikileaks.
I'd agree if maybe he said it would be released only if someone was killed, but he specified that his arrest or the taking down of WikiLeaks would also incite him to release the codes. He basically blackmailed everyone with his little mystery file.

So what? The man's being hunted by the world elite. I'd be using blackmail to save my skin too.

And this man is still some sort of morally superior hero?
[editline]8th December 2010[/editline]
My point is, you want this guy who's blackmailing the entire world to decide what's "alright" for the public to see? Is that a little much power to vest in one man?
Dude six pages ago you were still playing the world's smallest violin all about his morals and integrity. I don't give a shit. They have him on a bunch of legal issues. And it isn't just one guy, its a shitload of people. 100 leaks a day seems like a bit much for a single person to approve/etc.
Wikileaks is composed of more than just Julian. Stop your moaning.
[editline]9th December 2010[/editline]
I don't give a shit about his moral fiber. The blackmail makes sense in his circumstance. im not gonna put a hate on for the guy. He doesn't want to lose his life.

Even if there are a ton of people leaking the stuff to him and doing routine management, he's the one at the helm and he's the one claiming the public's support. He's building himself into some sort of superhero and people are aligning themselves under his banner. I mean, look at Anon. They're DDoSing major business in the name of one man and his beliefs. If this doesn't worry you, you need to open your eyes and stop acting like this is still a matter of free speech.
[editline]8th December 2010[/editline]
Which it never really was in the first place.
I don't give a shit about his moral fiber.
So, what, you just like chaos?
TH, these kinds of discussions is the reason why I respect you. Except for the whole racism thing, your words reflect mine, except without the terrible forgetting my sentence structure in the middle of a sentence happens to me a lot.
really digging the thinly veiled racism in this post
There is no racism there, just an observation. When was the last time you heard about a Jew strapping a bomb to their chest and killing people? I can't stand the over-political correctness of today. Most Muslims are good people. But to try to hide from the fact that these terrorists are Muslim is foolish. It isn't just a coincidence.
When I saw the title, this song came to mind:

Is this madness finally over? Can I go back to my life and dreams?
Better song found.

Amorality!=Anarchy
Goddamn is the world fucked if this shit can now happen.
do you really think this is the worst infringement upon free speech ever
There are loads of whistleblower sites out there, but Wikileaks is the only for-profit one.
There are loads of whistleblower sites out there, but Wikileaks is the only for-profit one.
um, no it isn't?
Apparently his lawyers keep asking for the evidence and getting no response, and the judge involved in the extradition wants to see the evidence. So perhaps the evidence is really flaky (or non existent).
It's a rape case, there's hardly ever evidence.
There are loads of whistleblower sites out there, but Wikileaks is the only for-profit one.
Uhhh, what?
It's a rape case, there's hardly ever evidence.
It isn't a rape case for the five hundredth time.
It isn't a rape case for the five hundredth time.
Whatever, it's a case that only has two witnesses and no evidence, as with most sexual crimes.
Whatever, it's a case that only has two witnesses and no evidence, as with most sexual crimes.
Because consensual sex doesn't leave semen :downs:
Obviously he is being framed by goverment.
Because consensual sex doesn't leave semen :downs:
Well if it's a rape case with two witnesses then you use that as evidence you poop.
Well if it's a rape case with two witnesses then you use that as evidence you poop.
Except if he argues it was consensual then the presence of semen means nothing.

Except if the government wants him in prison they would have him.
And they do.
